  • Pandora vs Aleks

Halactica, an independent city within the wild worlds. Wild worlds, a way to talk about the worlds on the frontier of Equillibrium's authority, many universes recognized them, many were oblivious, but Halactica was aware, and saw them the same as any else. A massive city built up with the trade of entire universes, but run with an all too limited administration. An administration too weak to control itself, and the city was essentially divided between companies angling for dominance over the capital this city could generate.

In conditions like this, a lot of people could slip through the cracks as companies jealously horded the most mundane of information, and the government was ineffective in its control. And there were many who did, some intentionally, others through no fault of their own. Pandra couldn't say she liked what had happened here, but it was away, and maybe here she could do some good without worrying. After she betrayed Equillibrium at the behest of the Phoenix Group... And only too late saw the gravity of her actions. She worked out well for them, and lost everything as a result, obeying those who had manipulated her. Now she had a bounty on her head, though this city was far away enough that Equillibrium agents probably wouldn't waste their time, and bounty hunters were too few between to chase her. She could disappear at least, she lost everything but she could disappear...

Maybe it was a good thing it was raining. If she started crying again over seemingly nothing she could pretend it was the rain making her sad. At the least she was here, looking around at a train stop. There were a lot of people there, barely enough room for anyone to move, Pandora managed to stay rooted still but others weren't so lucky, being pushed aside...

And then one fell onto the tracks, just as the chime announced the train's imminent arrival, and the trains here were quick. Their leg seemed hurt as well, and these trains rarely stopped for anyone, even when it'd result in their death if they didn't stop. Pandora leaped down with them, willing blood to come out through their legs, they needed to be quick, they came down, grabbed them, their hat left behind as they leaped out with newly formed grasshopper legs, quickly leaping. The train closed in, and even ripped off Pandora's Grasshopper leg, giving pain to her, she suppressed the need to yell in pain, and bit her lip.

Looking down on them, they seemed terrified of how close they had come to death, even with help. Pandora laid them down, as the train stopped, chances are they needed to take the train, but they were too far away from the line, people would immediately flood into the train, and even when the train was almost bursting full it wouldn't be enough. That was fine, they'd just need to wait. Wordlessly she left the person, and walked out, a vendor was selling tacos, blankets, even spare clothing to those awaiting the next train in the rain, and seemed to doing well on business. She'd begin to wait in line in the rain, the rain didn't bother her anyway, she thought as she closed up her simple orange jacket. She needed a new hat anyway, as far as they were, she'd rather have a hat, and hers was probably a hundred miles away by now.

In the downpour, a singular person had watched the heroics from a safe distance, noting the fact that despite the woman had lost a leg that she was still able to walk just fine. With a nod to himself, the person brought their hood up from their hooded trench coat. Overall, he looked no different than anyone else on the platform....except he was the only one who was bone dry in the middle of a large downpour. But on a worl dsuch as this, only the truly suspicious would have noticed....and his quarry had let her guard down.

It is likely his announcement of the rain suddenly suspending itself in mid-air for 3 blocks in all directions would get her attention. As would his words, and when she turned....his unmistakable eyes.

"Good work with the kid. It seems ACE taught you something after all....."

She hadn't paid much attention to her surroundings, simply waiting for her turn, feeling the rain pelt her body, some were a bit weirded out in how she didn't even cover her eyes, but she gave it no mind. Then the rain stopped. No, the rain stopped hanging in midair. And he heard his voice. His and the other keidos, they were all burned into her memory and brain, and this one... As she turned to look at him... No, she came here to escape, and yet.

      And yet...

      Right in front of her.

      Out here...

Aleks Keido. She immediately took a few steps back, there were many reasons, not the least was how close he was, as his eyes stared daggers into her.

"I..." She barely got out. "N-not here-" She said, to him or to herself was unknown to her. It was important that she escape, not just for herself, but for the others. The train rail was suspended several kilometers in the air, and out she ran onto the tracks, running out into the suspended area, away from the crowd. Running from him, running from Equillibrium, she simply ran, as the others looked bewildered, and others simply turning their eyes from the sad situation. People came here often to disappear. Not all were successful.

"Did you really think you could run forever before Equilibrium sent a Keido!? How long did you think you could truly hide, even here!?"

Aleks walked onto the rain-slicked steel of the rail, his feet settling on the track before the Elder Keido flexed a hand and the water between his feet and the rail moved him at incredible speed, chasing Pandora down with barely any effort.

Pandora ran fast as she could, in this form at any rate, but Aleks was faster yet, sliding along the rail using the water, thrusting himself forward with minimal effort. He was getting closer, very close now, she had to act quickly, as he closed in,thinking quickly, with all the rain creating puddles... She stomped onto the ground, a puddle quickly touching with the water carrying Aleks, and with her own ability, she mutated an electric organ, a shock powerful to allow the Ampeel to hunt large predators in another world, electricity visibly coursing, something to tell him to stay away.

The shock coursed through Aleks but the charge only made an eye twitch in discomfort. As he raised his hands from his pockets, his voice thundered over the bustle of the city around them.

"Did you forget who my nephew is? Aethan has struck me with a harder shock than that without trying!" Aleks' left hand raised up before the water hovering in the air around them swirled around Pandora. With a clenching of his fist, the water shrank in with no warning, turning to ice with spikes on the inside to skewer her. Aleks was aware of Pandora's powerset and knew such a thing would not be fatal, just painful and perhaps just debiitating enough to catch her faster.

And so it did, as Pandora fell from the effort, blooding quickly rising around them, turning into an extra hard cartilage shell.

All the while Pandora grimaced from pain, simple attacks to keep Aleks off of her.

All Pandora wanted was to get away, and still chased down.

All she wanted was to disappear, her legacy to be something nice, even if only for a few moments in this city.

And denied even that, she lost everything. All one decision she regretted the moment she comitted to it.

              Everything. Everything.

Everything poured out as Pandora screamed, and blood came out not in a mere stream, but a torrent, to push him back on the track away from her, as she screamed "GO AWAY!!!!"

Aleks' eyes flashed with surprise before both hands blindingly came forward, throwing them to opposite sides suddenly just before the blood torrent reached him, parting it like a red river on either side of his body. Here he held his ground, eyes never leaving hers as he watched her face. It seemed to him that this was not some renegade like usual, even as he knew her actions. This was a woman purely on the run, not wanting to clash with a Keido, a far cry from the usual runners that he sometimes hunted for Equilibrium.

"You stood against Equilibrium, Pandora! You have to answer for that! And worse, YOU CHOSE PHOENIX GROUP! EVERY KEIDO WILL HUNT YOU FOR THAT UNTIL EVERY WORLD ENDS AND NOTHING IS RENEWED!!! There will NEVER be a safe haven for you for that! The only way to correct that sin would be to give us every single Phoenix Group cell on a platter!"

All she wanted was to leave, to live out her regrets. Do something right. Protect who she could. And yet... Hunted. Hunted to the farthest depths of the world, It would go on forever, and ever as she ranted as to how the time would, herself scrambling backwards, still on there before suddenly falling through a hole.

In not even a moment after she had fallen and blood stopped, another train came through at incredible speeds, even across the multiverse. The combination of whole universes of different technologies combining together a lack of regulation for safety created a train rushing forward at absurd speeds.

All the while Pandora lurked underneath it, having grown spider legs to crawl underneath it. Even if Aleks survived that, he was probably across the city of a dozen continents by now, plenty of time for her to disappear again, where to she didn't know however... As she crawled on the underside, she had to think of a new place to escape to... Or maybe she should turn herself in, if Aleks died the rest of the Keidos would probably come. They may turn the place upside down looking for her... They were certainly large enough to impose their will...

She was losing herself in thought as she slowly began to knit a parachute out of webbing. The multiverse is large, despite their claims and yet... "I just want to to do something good with this... How would I even know..." The Phoenix Group never treated her as an operative, only as a tool to be used and abandoned. And choice... Choice means nothing without the understanding to use it, something she only gained upon realizing just what her actions did.

For a time, the rain began again as if never suspended, beyond the water spattered away by the oncoming train. a mechanical tick and metallic clang could be heard at regular intervals underneath the track of the elevated train.

But then a less regular sequence could be heard. flesh upon metal, followed by the metal giving under unnatural strength. in the shadows, yellow eyes flashed in the glow of a distant light, the bulk of an inhumanly tall body hanging from a single grip not far from Pandora.

"You want to do good. You certainly know what it is, so obviously Phoenix never truly had your mind, even if they had your trust. It is a wonder you never trusted us as much, when we offered you the chance to be more than the weapon they wanted you to be."

the silver of Aleks' fur stood out under the dark trenchcoat. Twice now, he gave up an ambush position to speak to Pandora. He wondered when she'd cotton on to that fact.....

Back when she still thought she was a weapon. Her friends, she had made them but she never thought of herself as anything beyond a weapon to be used. When they told her to do what she did. Without question, she eve stated as such, when Herc had asked if she would do so. She said yes.

And yet he let her stay. And she did exactly what she said she would do. And then she realized as she saw her friends fighting for their lives...

"I was a weapon." Was her only response. Even with her learning about personhood, she still had great difficulty reading people at the best of times, outside of a precious few she personally knew... Not that she could meet with them anymore.... Instead what she did was throw out that web at Aleks, spewing out more from her mouth to catch him. As the train passed over again, the blood on the tracks formed into a reptilian creature, using it's long thin acidic tongue to carefully melt apart the section Aleks had grabbed. It was already compromised, and after that was done, she could have it transform into a carapace to replace the rail lost in this maneuver. The parachute would ensure he wouldn't reach the bottom at lethal speeds, especially given the wind (and not so coincidentally, this would also prevent him from getting his mobility back so soon).

He can talk about how the Phoenix Group never had her mind but it was the opposite. She only took her independence on that day, and the first thing she did was run away. She refused to be their weapon anymore.

As he fell, struggling against the bonds, he snarled back. "You are a person and always were one, assholes made you try to be something else!"

When he hit the ground, he growled, straining against the bonds before roaring, finally powering though with sheer strength. While he couldn't match Herc's strongest feats, neither could Pandora match Keido levels of physical strength that Aleks was able to exert. In fact, if he were to guess he would figure he was the strongest after Herc, if only by a small degree.

Aleks scanned the skyline above him, twirling a hand as his legs and hips were enveloped in water that he used to lift himself in the air.

"Pandora! Running won't help your case! I WILL listen to your side unlike Abbey but you need to GIVE IT TO ME FIRST! I'M NOT A FUCKING TELEPATH LIKE FAERIS!"

why did Herc accept her? She told him exactly what she was, exactly what she would do. He le her in, and she did it... It was simple for her, to follow her orders. What would she say to the Keidos? "Sorry. I told you in advance and then did it because that is how I was taught." Would anyone believe that? Or would they simply be insulted, especially when the Academy was left in such disrepair.

Aleks may say that, and was right, but Pandora was never even aware of such a path for herself aside from that she took. She only realized another path, only realized another way instead of obedience, she only truly learned to think for herself when she saw what blind obedience had wrought.

And so Pandora had hid, as Aleks had dropped down onto the city below, such web keeping him occupied, she took to the skies, wings growing to quickly fly into the smog, already redeveloping her lungs to perfectly intake the gross air that this city created, she would use it as cover to escape. Alek's words fell on deaf ears, as she had already thought there was no way back, even if Aleks would forgive her, she knew, or at least thought she knew in her heart that Abbey and Herc never would.
