Crazy Awesome Legend

I thought for anyone who's interested that I would post regular updates about my progress in the game Football Manager 16. Rather than make a video series like I did with my last team, I thought it would be easier on myself just to write posts about it, like a journal.

Instead of becoming manager of an already successful team like what a lot of players do, I created my own team with blackjack and hookers from scratch. I called it Plymouth United and we play in the South West Peninsula League Division 1 West, in the eighth tier of the English football pyramid. The reason I'm doing it this way is because I love the idea of starting with nothing and eventually becoming something special.

So the first thing I did was obviously find a bunch of players to add to my team. Having started from scratch all I had was a custom set of players the computer kindly added for me. Hardly any of these players would be any use if I wanted to progress up through the leagues so I needed to sign players for every position in the team. Plus substitutes of course since injuries are common in this game. I started at the back with my goal keepers and created two custom players as was allowed in the game's rules. After this I needed to search the transfer market.

Now at this level we do not get any kind of budget. Literally zero funding. So I obviously could only go through a list of free transfers. As with the goalkeepers I begun at the back and worked my way up the pitch until I had at least two players for each position. However some players who I approached decided to go to other teams instead, so I ended up playing my entire pre season short of all the positions I wanted. I think I'm still short a spare left back and a spare left midfielder at the start of the season. Fortunately free transfers are quite easy to come by.

So here are the scores for my pre season.

Plymouth United Under 21s H: 2-1 Win
Exwick Villa A: 0-1 Loss
Launceston H: 1-0 Win
Helston H: 0-3 Loss
Galmpton Utd A: 2-1 Win

The next games marks the beginning of the season and we play away to Millbrook. Fingers crossed our players do a good job and my system works consistently.
