Liberal culture is outrage culture. If they're not outraged they're not trying.
Sure, and every conservative believes everything said on conservapedia, is a KKK member, wants every American to own an RPG and is part of the Westboro Baptist Church.

You are talking about an extreme minority, not a culture.

In fact, I would argue these people aren't even liberals. Liberals would fight for freedom of speech.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was sarcasm or not. Oprah is pretty famous.

Isn't Oprah the biggest woman in America?

I know she's supposed to be some sort of super celebrity, but I've genuinely only heard of her because she interviewed Michael Jackson in the 90s. Her supposed fame eludes me.

What will you do when you get old?

I don't know about biggest, I've seen some pretty big women come in to the restaurant I work at, but she's definitely one of the most famous if we're only including celebrities and not government officials/first ladies.

To be fair so does Mitas, though he's British, I have no idea what influence Oprah has outside of her native language.

No, this is not an excuse. Oprah isn't well-known just in the west, she's a global celebrity that EVERYBODY and their mom knows about.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

Everyone is offended by everything now, and everyone, despite ready access to insurmountable droves of information at their literal fingertips, still choose to remain uninformed.

The joke was an obvious reference to the man being labeled the fastest man in the world. Only people who have willfully ignored any coverage of this man in the olympics would call this racist.

I keep saying that the people who chose to get their news from social media are some of the most ignorant people on the planet. Social media is just that... social. No verification of sources or explanations required.

People only care about pictures at face value, and they don't even bother reading anything or verifying news stories.

This seems so strange to me. I just asked the people in my vicinity and, as expected, none of them had heard of her.

They've heard of plenty American, black, female celebrities (Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Rihanna, Diana Ross, Halle Berry, Whoopi Goldberg et cetera) but not the supposedly most famous. Not even just the most famous in that category, but one of the most famous people in the world. I've never heard anyone mention her, ever, nor have I ever seen her meant-to-be-super-popular show on television, and she's been around since the 90s at least.

I could name so, so many American shows from the 90s—talk shows!—and I don't even like any of them. Odd.

Huh, I just assumed everybody knew since she's always in some sort of news here. The Oprah Winfrey Show aired on TV here too for so many years I just thought she'd be well-known around the world.

I too find this odd, Emmeth. Considering Oprah Winfry was the richest woman in the world for several years. She lost this status when some woman from England named JK Rowling came out with some little book series called "Harry Potter".

To think Oprah made the majority of her money doing talk shows.

Now she owns her own TV network... which also contributes to her not being the richest woman in the world anymore. Her networth is still in the top 5 for women though. Given that she controls a large amount of media, calling her a celebrity doesn't even nearly encircle what she is. She's also an actress, and not a bad one at that. Given how much she controls, she's basically an entity in media.
I'm not trying to puff her up, I hate the woman.
The Oprah Winfry Network (OWN) is her TV network; and it's pretty boring, there's really not much on it.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

It would be cool if celebrities such as these would come out and try educate people a bit. People seem to care more about what celebrities say or do than...anything else these days they could be a powerful tool in making people less ignorant.

Your identity is who you are not what colour you are, would be great if Usain Bolt would say something along those lines. Being the fastest man alive is his achievement, his being black should barely be of note.

As for Oprah we don't really hear much of her over here, I know of her but she was really the richest woman for a time? Had no idea :o_O:
I always thought she was just like the US version of Jeremy Kyle or something
