Seems to me that the USA like many countries actually is having a few problems. It's somehow reached a point where two very unpopular candidates are in line for the Presidency. The people put up for election by their respective parties aren't people anyone actually wants. That's obviously problematic. Congress has become a quagmire of dogmatic ideology instead of a place where the legality and practicality of legislation is debated. The nation needs some sort of top down reorganisation. The question is, how can this be done? |

Might actually be a solution. Dismantle the current system and come up with something more modern and pragmatic. Something where belonging to a certain faction doesn't dictate policy decisions. |

I don't think it can be fixed. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

Anything broken can be fixed if enough people are willing to try. |

Just fix the entire political system. The way the U.S. operates now simply doesn't work. Just get a parliamentary system. And every party needs to be represented equally on the media. Said media has to be anything but Fox news. Perhaps a government subsidized news channel that makes sure they speak about political parties in an unbiased manner. |

Before it can be fixed everybody has to first admit that it is broken. And most importantly, they must agree as to WHAT PARTS are broken. |

Thing is, if the people in charge are being paid as much as they are for what amounts to very little work, why would they want to change it? It needs to come from the bottom rung of society and they need to hold the corrupt and the complacent to account for their misdeeds. |

Our political system isn't much to shout about. We only really have two parties (and the coalition made sure that'd last a little longer), we have Scotland who could vote entirely for one party and then be ruled by another, there's a very large bias towards upper class people in regards to climbing the political ladder. Then there's the fact that a lot of people feel they're being run by a person they didn't vote for (although I don't agree with that, you vote for the party, not the leader). The media can also be biased (newspapers specifically), although it doesn't play as big a part as it does in the US. I don't really know much about US politics so my opinion doesn't count for much, but from what I hear one of the biggest things that needs to change is how much money plays a part in the system. |

One of the biggest things the populace as a whole needs to do is stop voting only around the President comes around. The time for voting is virtually all the time when it comes to the federal level (by comparison to Presidential terms). Even down to the state level and local level. It surprises me that the youth (which includes myself) that are progressive, decide not to vote whilst the regressive old timers are the ones out there putting in the politicians that have rather regressive or stagnant social policy. |
