Holy Christ, Yeshua.

It was obvious you were sniffing the Bible pretty hard lately, but you're now just centimetres away from a monastery. There goes any small hope I might have had that you would eventually see the light and join us in decent society, as it seems you were further blinded, instead.

Is your new found zeal anything to do with that guy who got you asking me questions?
See the light? I wish you would explain. I want to learn more of your stance.

It is, yes. He uses a lot of good reasoning and logic. Trust me, I don't just blindly follow what he says. We discuss and debate. And no, I'm not a Bible guru, nor will I act like one. I will just talk about what I know, and hopefully learn in the process.

Which side of the debate was this Coolest on?

Edit:- Nevermind. I found him.
Don't bother delving into those deep discussion topics from 2013. You might burn a few brain cells in the process, and not in a good way.

@Shining Light: I'm curious as to who this person is and what "logic and reasoning" he's been using. Believing in something purely because someone else explains it to you to seems kind of fishy to me. But I'm also just fishing for responses atm, so I guess that makes me fishy too.

Like I said, I don't just believe what he says without question, this didn't happen overnight. My shifting in direction of what I believe is truth was happened over several months. I thought things over, I looked into other viewpoints of the Bible a little bit, and I just chose what seems to make the most sense. But there's a lot to it all, I wouldn't even know where to start. But going through all that, I've learned a lot.

I was just riffing off of your name. Though, I do think you're very much in the dark (ages). If you want to know my stance, feel free to look over our previous discussions. If you find something that hasn't been covered, feel free to ask.

Given my little exchange with him, I'm afraid I couldn't imagine it. You say you discuss and debate, but you're both aiming at the same thing out of personal reasons. You're probably both willfully confirming each other's thoughts, even if you think you're attempting to get at it objectively.

I'd like to know more. I'm in the dark here, and given my current situation at work, I'm kind of in the mood for a debate. Screw it.

Lazuli: God no. Why did you do that to yourself? I'm not even referring to just Coolest. Even I was a punk and an incomprehensible fool.

I've always maintained that curiosity would be the death of me.

I don't think you need to worry, though. Admittedly I only saw your posts when Coolest was replying to them, but they didn't stand out negatively.

I'm waiting to see what Gotenks has to say about your question to him. I'm interested in the answer, too.

@Lazuli sure I can do that.

I think you would have to have a longer discussion with him than you did. Even I was like, "Wait, what?" when we first started talking about the Bible. Even now I still desire to look at opposing viewpoints, though I'm not doing it as often as I could.

@ObsessiveFanGirl well maybe you can start by asking a few q's or something. Really don't know where to start

Well, I suppose I could start by asking why you believe in a god despite it being illogical. It contradicts many scientific facts that we, since creating god, have discovered to be true.

I don't have enough knowledge to answer that.

So you have absolutely no idea why you're religious, but you're religious anyway? That's probably the silliest thing I've heard all day. If you believe in something, you should be ready to defend it and at least have a grasp on why you believe it.

What will you do when you get old?

The thing I've noticed with religious people is that they are afraid of a lot of things. Afraid of responsibility, afraid of dying, afraid of there truly being no purpose, no hope. So they create something that fulfills all those roles to make life easier to cope with.

Agnostic. I simply don't know and I won't rule out anything without proof.
Pretty much this. Although in the past I've found simply labelling yourself as "Agnostic" causes arguments about the specific meanings of the word.

I just don't really think about religion at all, and it doesn't affect my life. And as long as you're not hurting anyone, I don't really mind what other people believe.

I just don't get it. You criticise my views, yet you get annoyed when I ask for help learning about it. What kind of discussion is that?

When did you ask me for help in learning about it? I asked you a pretty basic question. You couldn't even tell me why you believed what you do. What do you even need help with? You needing help understanding your own beliefs wasn't the vibe I got from this conversation to begin with.

I don't have enough knowledge to answer that.
And this is why your friend has proven to be more convincing to you than any of us: because you want to be convinced by him.

You're forever and always incapable of explaining why God is real, but you'll forever and always say that he is or must be. I know you think that you losing in a debate doesn't mean anything, because there are surely more intelligent people than you that could do a better job of it, but let me assure you of something:

It doesn't matter how intelligent or well read some other religious person might be, the position itself does not stand up to scrutiny.
