Some say the second coming of Jesus was April 20th, 1889 and that he failed to destroy evil and subsequently died April 30th, 1945. |

Yeah, I try to tell them that reincarnation is a Buddhist thing, not a Christian one and they don't buy it. Those pesky Born-Again Christians are at it again. |

I'm trying to avoid being too argumentative because a lot of members don't like general threads like this being derailed, but I do have to ask: what exactly do you think heaven is, and do you think that it would actually be an enjoyable place? I can't imagine praising the lord being that enjoyable when you're doing it on repeat for eternity. @buubs: You're talking about me, aren't you? |

Does the Bible actually say all we'll do is praise Him? He has His angels for that, after all. I'm certain heaven is gonna be exactly what he wanted for Adam originally: A perfect life. No sin, no hassle, just peace. And if you want we can continue this through PM or something. Edited by Dankness Lava, Aug 8 2016, 05:14 AM.

I didn't really say anything in my Opening Post except that I was Christian so I'll say a bit more. I grew up a Christian and it was something I always believed in however my sophomore year in High School things were changing in my life and I drew away from God and eventually became agnostic, I suppose you could say. However I started going through some harder times and God was there when I needed him most. I don't really want to talk about everything that happened, but God really changed me for the better and I came back a better Christian than ever. |

That's great Bardock. I had the same thing happen, but it didn't take long. I call myself a child of Abraham to save any confusion with typical modern-day Christanity, which is a mess. |

no omg i was going to say their name but then i wouldve been obligated to try to refute what they said, but you and ginyu had the right idea that it's not worth getting into for the billionth time because it's just going to end in the same way, and months or a year from now when a new thread is made it'll be like no one listened to us and they'll carry on making the same arguments. |

Yeah I don't confuse myself with any specific denomination. So I just refer to myself as a non-denomenational Christian. Edited by Son-Goku, Aug 8 2016, 05:19 AM.

You're right. Heaven is only really described in vague terms in the bible: a golden city, gates and streets adorned with jewels, and a throne room for god. However, given that we know that there are no material possessions or desires in heaven according to the bible, what do you actually think will happen there? A beautiful--albeit empty--city with god sitting on a throne in the middle. It's hard to imagine much else. I highly doubt there would be any worldly activities in heaven. Anyway, I digress. There's not much else to say about that without getting into annoying territory. (ily buubs.) |

Well I'm also aware that those who make it won't really want anything else. There won't be greed or lust of any sort in anyone's hearts. But if you want to close it here, I suppose that's fine. |

Which source says that? In the bible it says, the second coming of Jesus is to bring salvation. And the salvation in the bible refers to the Passover. |

I'm not trying to discounting anyones religious beliefs but throughout history there have been many gods and goddesses that are purported to have existed. Many of the gods and goddesses have origin stories about the creation of the Earth. Many of the gods and goddesses represent the same territories and realms and are described the exact same way. I'm thinking the Judeo-Christian god was Zeus/Wotan/Perun/Dyēus that is the last surviving god from before Judeo-Christianity took over. In all religions that have deities in them, there's always a war between the gods and goddesses where many of them die. In the Christian bible, the angels and "demons" fight each other in wars. It'd be logical to infer that the Judeo-Christian God was simply just the god who won, being Zeus/Wotan/Perun/Dyēus. All of the gods are described in a way that makes them sound like the same god in everything but name, and they all have many angel like servants and reside in the sky/heavens and are known to have control over thunder and lightning. Now, bear with me because I'm not done here. What if Zeus/Wotan/Perun/Dyēus was actually a powerful alien who used his technological superiority to rule over mankind? |
