i wasnt super srs cool. i'm just saying a bit more enthusiasm wouldve been nice to see instead of let's get business done and that's it. the whole point of doing all of this in the first place was to get people interacting more, which theyre doing gj, but from exp more effort from the host means more people are into it and the people spectating might be more willing to join in next time.

There's potential for a 16 person tourney next time. Showdown is open for anyone to fight anyone anytime so I don't see the purpose of setting up up people who didn't advance fights when they can do that themselves. Like I said its a tourney and it's competive. And it's not business like usual you don't know what's going behind the scenes. Your not setting up brackets your also not making gfx for the winner and I'm also tryna do something else for future tourneys. I'm doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes.

I beat Nagito.

The first match was pretty close. I just got kinda lucky in the second match.

That was a pretty thorough beating. Edgar Allan won 2-0.

I'm really regretting choosing bug for a monotype run right about now. Second gym in Kalos is a rock gym. My two strongest Pokemon are part-flying too, so 4x weakness, plus the gym leader's Amaura is ice. Gonna be tough.

I only have Stun Spore. I only picked it up again after like, a month or so, so can't remember why I opted for that over Sleep Powder. I got really close earlier, had Tyrunt in the red, but flinched after a stomp. I know I can do it, just taking longer than I'd like.

"I am the bone of my sword."

Bit of a rant... *sigh*

I've been playing a bit of Platinum despite my ire for the game and...yeah I know why now. This game is relentlessly difficult and it seems a lot of other people have that same trouble. Everything about this game seems to be set to be as challenging as possible. I first started the game off with Piplup and just the first match with the rival was monotonous.

Because all it was is "Withdraw and "Growl" or whatever Piplups defensive move is and it was a constant back and forth measure of just slowly dwindling down health and attack in what should have been a a short battle to get to know the combat scene. Literally the only thing the rival did was Withdraw...and it got monotonous bringing health down.

Then I played through a good portion of the game, got to Jubilife...tried to save...can't. Apparently to delete an old save file, I have to physically do it on the title screen. I can only be glad I hadn't too much because I would've honestly would've chucked the game away. I don't see what would've made the developers not just do the same thing with previous games. Just overwrite the previous save data and let's go. If I'm going to start a new game, why not just do it automatically if you won't bother to overwrite directly during the game?

Anyways I started a new game, picked Turtwig. I'm not sure how wise a choice this was but it was the starter I picked last time. It may just be because I wanted to have a very defensive Pokemon with strong ground moves. It may just because of Swampert and his part Ground Type in Emerald who I love and I could with a little grinding just go through that entire game with Swampert...even more so if I get Ice Beam.

But either way I get through Oreburgh without trouble, Turtwig handled that pretty easily.

But then I get to the Grass Gym and face Gardenia and one thing that's brought up a lot that I've seen is just how advanced the AI gets. While I think this is good especially for later parts, it makes the entire game unnecessarily challenging. Even having flying Pokemon around, it was something that was just difficult. In most cases I would think that at the very least Turtwig/Tortle could handle it.

But no, I have to deal with Grass Knot which works on weight and I have a huge, fat turtle.

But I get through that and its time to get through Galactic Headquarters and we get to Jupiter. So now I have to face this Skunktank which...I'll give credit for at least trying some different ideas, but I don't care for this toilet humor in Pokemon. I think just a skunk based Pokemon would have worked without adding the obvious fart sounds. But that's another story entirely.

And it's once more insanely difficult. The AI is intense and being a Dark Type, it makes it a pain to fight. There's only three weaknesses for this type. One of them hasn't even been put in by this generation (Fairy) one of them is massively weak (Bug) and the other is Fighting. It got to the point where I to play my cards as best as I could, get X-Defends (which I almost never use in any game) play the exact right moves at the exact right time, hopefully get a critical and then after 10 matches...I win.

So going through the game a bit more we get to the Ghost Gym, Fantina and we're facing the same trouble. In that we're facing a gym with very little weakness and they hit hard. I thought Grotle's defense might help but Night Shade kills. Thank goodness I have bite (A Dark Type) and an item that increases its power. Otherwise I'd be screwed and when I first played through, I was.

That's about as far as I've got right now and I'll continue just because. But I dread going through because I know its going to be harder and harder each time. I dread going against Crasher Wake because in most games, having a good grass type would be beneficial. But since his pokemon knows Ice Fang, it makes the whole type advantages moot. What should be an advantaged match for someone like Torterra becomes vastly more challenging than it should.

I'm trying to raise an Umbreon also just to deal with Cyrus and his Dark Types, at least get something that won't get beaten down easily.

During my first playthrough, when I got to the last fight with Cyrus in the Distortion World...it was a nightmare. I was highly under leveled and got the crap kicked out of me. Now in most cases I thought I could easily just Fly back, grind a bit and do something else. Apparently unless I missed something that's not possible. If I want to grind basically on lower areas or get more health items or anything. I'm going to have to climb the entire mountain again, then go through the Distortion World.

I literally started cheating by this point. I put in some one hit kill cheats because to me, there's a big difference between a challenge and a handicap. I think a lot of Pokemon games can be challenging if you don't play your cards right, but if you do play your cards right it can be a fun experience. I get none of that with Platinum. I feel each round is trying to test faith and luck on me and it doesn't matter if you've got the right cards or not.

I'm not sure if I'm going to one to even continue after that. It's pretty much the big part of the game, it almost makes the 8th Gym (Probably the one gym that isn't difficult for me) and the Elite Four. I cheated on the Elite Four of course. I got so fed up with this game and its idea of difficulty that I just wanted to get through. Hopefully I won't have to do it this round but...I'm eager to start playing Soul Silver.

So yeah, I don't like Platinum and luckily I'm not the only one I've seen who thinks the game is notoriously difficult. Ironically I've heard the same things about Soul Silver/Heart Gold and granted I haven't gotten that far in the game. But I've always loved the 2nd Generation and the Silver Version as well so maybe I'm just biased.

I don't see it being challenging as an issue at all. Pokemon is too easy at the best of times, the more advanced the AI and challenging the battles during the story mode, the better. Most battles are pretty easy if you plan for type advantage anyway, and even if you don't have that advantage, tactical use of stat/status moves and items helps a lot.

The save thing I can understand, although I wouldn't call it an issue. Once you know that, you just remember to delete your save file before playing.
