Double Post but... Well I, the illustrious EMILYA have started my own Emerald Nuzlocke. I've stuck with the basic Nuzlocke Rules for now. 1.) All Pokemon who faint are considered dead 2.) All Pokemon are nicknamed 3.) A total whiteout/blackout is game over regardless of Pokemon in the PC 4.) Can only catch the first Pokemon in each area. --- --- So here's how my adventure has gone down. I followed the ID trainer tag and thank goodness I got my lovable Mudkip...aka "Cecelia" and things have been good. My girl's a little slow though, and she seems to have a tendency to miss a 1/3 of her attacks, but she's an adorable little thing. We ran into a Poocheyna down the first route, caught it and I thought. What name should I give a female Hyena? I originally thought, Benzi from Lion King but instead got clever and now we have "WhoopiGold" on the team. A little bit more adventuring and we then caught a Wurmple, named it "Daisy" and would've caught a Wingull had Cecelia not broke its neck against a tree. Twas feeling quite down at the time until we managed to catch a Marill and called it "Maxmillion" Just starting around so not much is going on now. Scared dad's gonna violate me with his Slaking. Wish me luck. |

I've only got the Gen 1 and Gen 2 games now but no Gameboy to play them on. Crying irl. Also ping me when we do the Showdown simulator, I'd be down for that. Edited by Helvius Pertinax Augustus, Aug 8 2016, 05:39 AM.

Figured I'd get started on an Emerald Nuzlocke too: Team so far: After saving Birch from the terrors of a level two Zigzagoon, I proceeded to pound his daughter's Torchic with my newly acquired Treecko, Dexter. I actually had to use a potion because Dexter had the pounding skills of a 40 year old virgin, but for the sake of my reputation, I downed her in one hit. Me and Dexter then ventured west of Oldale Town to find the newest addition to the team, a Wurmple named Lily (I didn't count the route where I received Treecko and had an encounter before facing May). |

Well things...became rough. I got quite a bit done afterwards since my last post I managed to catch a Taillow named "Carmen" and then later down the road caught a Whimsur I affectionately called "Roarge" I got to Rustboro and handled the rock gym without much trouble with good ol' Cecelia. Then the Wicked Witch of Hohen May came. Ironically the one match I could skip, I thought. Hey this shouldn't be a problem and it'll give my team some experience. Needless to say I didn't realize the Dark Lord Treekomort was out for blood. In what can only be described as a massacre worse than Harry Potter's parents, that green lizard obliterated through my poor team. Only through the sheer perseverance of everyone else did I just barely managed to win and keep Cecelia safe. It may not have been worth it though, with the deaths of everyone else. I could not get discouraged, though I did give the Witch a very hateful glare. Arriving to Dewport, I got the old rod and in need of something, fished in one spot and caught a Magikarp. I called it "Revenge" and and planned to turn her into a mighty Gyarados. Heading to the cave firstly, I caught myself a Zubat, affectionately naming him "BruceWayne" I figured I should wait before fighting Brawly, especially with, besides Cecelia, such an underleveled team. I knew that some grinding was going to be needed. Revenge at this point was useless and Mr. Wayane wasn't much better as a Zubat. However I thought no harm could be done grinding through the Gym Trainers, switching out with Cecelia and letting my new team get some experience. I did not realize the Dark Lord had placed Death Eaters under the command of Brawlatrix Lestrange. Perhaps if that room wasn't so dark I wouldn't have succumbed to such a fate. I ran into a double match! To my horror, not only had I not planned this but Bruce and Revenge came out! They couldn't handle these monstrosity. I pulled Revenge out first and threw in Cecelia. I wished to take out Wayne but at least he knew attacks. I knew Cecelia could handle the fight but Bruce? I attempted to a Supersonic on a Machop...but it was no good. Not 10 minutes since we caught him, Bruce was deader than Hedwig. I won and ironically the useless fish survived. Now desperate, I wasn't sure what else to do. I left the gym, left Dewport to return to Petalburg. Things had become scary,. Perhaps in moment of false hope I realized there was an area I hadn't caught anything yet. I managed to catch a Wingull named "Yondervelt" though at only Level 4, he wasn't going to be of much use. I had little options, I went back to Dewport and in a second new area I fished out a Tentacool named "Carmilla" I had little options by this point. I went over to the gym and mostly with Cecelia I managed to crush through the trainers. I reeked in their blood. Perhaps my thoughts were filled with too much violence to think straight at the time. I challenged the Gym Leader Brawly! I was ready and the match started! his first two Pokemon went down easily. Cecelia, drunk on violence and the loss of her former friends clearly on her head. But much like Vegeta, my pride and rage had gotten the better of me. His Makuhita with its terrible strength...destroyed Cecelia. It was all downhill from there. If the accursed thing's Berrys and leader's potions weren't around, maybe I could've done something. though with the loss of my greatest member...would it really have mattered? In such a short time...everything ended in tragedy. I entreat the friends! The Dark Lord May and her dreaded Pokemon Eaters will only take more lives! Defeat her for my sake! For the sake of everyone lost to her evil cause! --- --- So yeah I suck. Good luck Mitas

That was enjoyable read, despite the way it turned out. I've actually never completed a Nuzlocke because I never grind enough. Furthest I've ever got was 7 badges on SoulSilver, but I'm determined to finish one during my lifetime (obviously I have my life goal priorities sorted). I'll play some more today and update later. You should give it another go. |

I did start another round. Luckily I was able to obtain a new Mudkip, male this time which, in honor of my favorite character, I have thus named him "Iskandar" after the great Alexander the Great from "Fate/Zero." I believe he will become a mainstay of the army who all the others will look up to with pride and affection. It is title he holds with honor. Along our journey we ran into another female Poochheyna. I perhaps lazily just called her Benzi. Soon after we caught a Zigzagoon and named her "Fran" We may have caught a Wurmple had Iskandar not devastated it and in our journey through the woods our attempts to catch a Cascoon left us with no balls and no Cascoon. I believe that Bug Poekmon may be useless, I feel not much has been loss today. Along the path though we did catch a Wingull. The loss of Carmen is still strong, she was a good bird...a strong bird... I hope my Wingull "Maria" can live up to her expectation. I made it to Rustboro soon after. I did not head to the Gym yet but instead went north to the grassy patch where I had originally caught "Roarge" the Whimsur. Much to my delight I ran into another Taillow! Memories of dear Carmen came to mind and I knew I had to catch this guy. Though he managed to escape the ball thrice, the fourth time was successful. Our new male Taillow "Quasar" will surely become a primary force of the team. Things are looking up but I must keep my pride and arrogance in check. I'm sure the Witch is watching me. I must be careful. --- --- ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Rocked up to Petalburg only to have to watch through teary eyes as my Dad helped the local dweeb catch his first Pokemon after leaving me to fend for myself (good job the local professor isn't as heartless). Actually, to be more specific, he asked me to help the kid rather than do it himself since, I assume, he had a busy day of standing alone in the gym. Once Wally caught himself a Ralts (the lucky bastard), we hightailed it out of there and headed to the next city. On the way I added not one, but two Poochyena's to my ragtag bunch of Pokemon (Jess & Desmond). We escaped the woods unscathed and now just have to navigate the maze of trainers before absorbing the s*** out of the Rustboro Gym. Team: Jess, Naughty Nature, Lv. 7 Desmond, Impish Nature, Lv. 7

I'm curious what specific rules your using Mitas. I have it that once I catch a Pokemon, I can't catch it again. I'm guessing that's not the same for you since now you've got 2 Poochys. Anyways, good job on destroying Roxanne. |

Yeah, I don't use the duplicate rule. First Pokemon in each area, no matter what it is. Shiny Pokemon can be caught regardless because they're awesome. Then the standard nicknames & faint = death. Blackout is game over too, mainly because I'd never have the patience to train an entirely new team. |

Journal entry #2 Things are looking good. Having arrived shortly to Rustboro, I challenged the Gym. Iskandar easily washed away all of Roxanne's pitiful Pokemon and to my delight, evolved by the end of the battle. The others look at their new Marshstomp with glee, I think this battle has given everyone so new hope. Quasar, the Taillow seems very eager. It has been decided that he will hold 2nd in Command of the team. Meanwhile Maria, the Wingull holds a solid third. They are a strong group. Benzi and Fran though, they straggle behind. I'm not sure how long they will last. Quasar has suggested some...deportation...but after the horrors of last time I'm not sure. I will keep his words in check. We soon came across a Whimsur and named him Jerry, His Naive nature though makes me questionable usefulness, but I am willing to forgive if he proves me wrong. After getting the Devon Goods from the wicked Aqua Grunt we then ran into...the Witch. I admit, merely seeing the sight of the Witch caused me to tremble. I dare not fight her yet until at least Quasar was at a higher level. I trained rigorously and then challenged her. Her Wingull was easily dispatched by Iskandar and then she brought out her trump card. I admit, I froze for a moment. I knew that Quasar, my only real flying type with flying type moves could defeat this creature. I put my confidence into my bird. .... ... It was victorious! In a stunning defeat, Quasar destroyed the wannabe gecko creature! Cheers ran around the team so loud that not even Jerry's Uproar could drown it out. I turned to the Witch, ready for her and was shocked to see she was thanking me, though she did seem a little upset. Was I perhaps wrong about the Witch? I went along my way but could not help but give a passing glance to the Witch of Hohen. Our new stop was Dewport City, the place where it all ended. Usually I would have been gripped by dread of such a place and would rather be in the Shadow Temple of OOT. But after our latest victories, we move on with pride. We fought the trainers and caught ourselves a Makuhita named "Brutus" Now it was time for the Gym. This time we were ready, we blew through the trainers, thanks greatly to the might of Quasar. These fighting type fools with their Machops and Detecting Meditites had no idea what was in store for them. Though I admit, Quasar came close to death a few times. There is only one left, the one who ended it all. Brawly: The Second Coming will be here soon. I am...confident in victory...but can I do without losing anyone else? Quasar, the one who will lead the charge is ready. The time will come soon. |

I blitzed through the Rustboro gym with Dexter and his mighty powers of absorption. Then some dunce had his goods stolen and I was tasked with getting them back. On the way I realised this was a new route, time for a new Pokemon.....A GOD DAMN ABRA. I slowly crept through the grass, keeping as quiet as humanly possible, then launched a great ball. Sadly, the great ball was a piece of s*** that didn't even bother wiggling and I had to watch as Abra teleported away, taking with it all my hopes and dreams. Then I figured that Lily was only a couple battles away from evolving. What was the next encounter?....A God...damn....Abra. I decided to run, but in a cruel twist of fate I was unable to escape from a battle with a Pokemon who can only escape from a battle. f*** you Abra. After having our emotions toyed with by the evil Abra, our first tragedy struck. Jess, one of the twin Poochyenas, fell in battle. Two missed tackles were met with a critical hit and just like that, we had our first casualty. You will never be forgotten. In a fit of rage, me and the remaining team pummelled the useless Team Aqua grunt, returned a Wingull to it's weirdly attached owner, retrieved the Devon goods and saved the day because we're cool like that. There was also a new addition to the team, a plucky Whismur named Rocco. I was then dragged to see the President of Devon Corp who asked me to deliver a letter. Apparently in Hoenn adults are complete and utter idiots who can't do anything for themselves and instead shift the responsibility to 10 year old children. Just one last thing to do before we leave.....destroy May..... Team: Desmond, Level 10 |

Journal Entry #3: The battle with Brawly began. Quasar the Taillow was as good as expected. Whether through strength, confidence or a combination of both, he ripped through the first two Pokemon like wet tissue paper. But then Makuhita came out. Taillow put a valiant struggle, pushing the Makuhita to the edge but in a cruel twist of fate...Quasar fell. Never before have I seen Iskandar filled with such rage. I'm not sure how long it will take the Gym to clean up the blood. We won, but at the cost of our dear flyer Quasar, victory seems short lived. I think Maria, the Wingull took it hardest. She looked up to Quasar as a mentor. She's resolved herself to fill his shoes and become the flyer we need, especially when against the Witch. --- --- Journal Entry#4: We trudge on, we have to push the death of our friend out of our heads. Our next step is Slaterport CIty. At a Museum we ran into the villainous gang Team Aqua. What are their plans? Regardless, they were dealt with easily. Our trip went north, along the path before running into a female Elektrike! Captured! We named her Annabolt. She's an adorable thing, ready for action. Then we ran into the Witch. She didn't bother to ask us if we wanted to battle, perhaps she is still miffed about her last defeat. My only worry was her Groyvle, but Maria, the Wingull proved to be Quasar's student through and through. In a resounding defeat, the Witch lost. She ran off rather quickly on her bike. She seemed...upset. --- --- Journal Entry #5: Upon the next town, things were looking up. We got ourselves a bike, fought a few trainers and slowly began to build Annabolt up through the ranks. Her eagerness shows on her face. The Gym is electric, with an Eletric Pokemon and a Pokemon with Ground Moves and resistances to Electricity, this would perhaps be the easiest match since Roxxxane. True enough, none of the trainers inside could touch such a powerful team. It was time to face Watson. Iskandar, with his mighty strength blew through the Pokemon with ease...until Magneton. Sonicbooom proved to be a devastating ability and we had to constantly heal Iskandar throughout the battle. Though Iskandar ultimately won, with no healing items and his health in the yellow, could he possibly defeat the Manectric. I couldn't risk it, in desperation I threw out Annabolt despite being so much weaker. Perhaps through fate it recognized one of its own kin. He howled to prove dominance while Annabolt leered at it. They howled, they leered...they howled some more....they leered some more.................it howed again....................she leered again. As its strength rose, its defense fell....and then it attacked. Annabolt was dead. I was scared...I threw out Maria to finish the job. I knew it couldn't have taken much. I didn't realize the strength of the Manecric. My dear flyer....my dear Maria who flew along my side...fell. I was out of options, only Iskandar the Marshstop could save the day. I threw him out and perhaps with the luck of Arceus looking down on us, we won. Victory was obtained but at a high price. Now that I think about it, could this have been a plan by the Witch to get rid of Maria, the one who threatened her most? Annabolt fought well. Without her sacrifice we may not have made it through. What should've been an easy victory turned tragic. As we left, we have been followed by a strange creature. ![]() I'm not sure what it is. I've called it Jerry, perhaps I shall feed it to Iskandar as nourishment. OOC: Yeah got quite a bit done til now. Come on the rest of you, join in the party, have your own playthrough or Nuzloke or have a battle in the simulator. |

You used a Wingul against an electric type instead of your ground type? D: As for me, I'm constantly going through games and playing with new teams. I don't Nuzlocke though. While I do love hte idea of nuzlocking, I found that when a Poké died and I had to grind up a new one, it was just a pain in the butt. I do have my own rules though: -No battling against wild Pokés to avoid over-levelling. The only exceptions to this is the first few battles until my starter is around level 9, when a newly caught Poké needs to catch up to the rest of the team, or when a wild Pokémon is so high levelled it gets through repel, since that indicates i'm way under-levelled. -Battle mode to set. In fact in gym battles and elite 4, no switching at all, with one exception (stated next). -I can only use the same amount of healing items as the gym leader or elite 4 member has used, OR I can substitute a healing item for a Pokémon switch (still has to be done on set so I still take damage). -Always use the "easy" Poké vs the gym leader last. For example if I'm fighting a fire type gym leader, I'll use my water type last. I prefer to fight battles where both Pokémon are neutral against each other. It makes the battles more anime-esque. I've been keeping track of the teams I'e used since Alpha Sapphire in this image: Spoiler: click to toggle Currently I've just started a White run and my team is Tepig and Pansage. |

It was not my brightest of moments. But with Iskandar hanging on the low Yellow and no potions. I thought the Wingull could at least bring down some of that Maneric's attack. Alas was not meant to be. Plus this is also my first Nuzlocke as well. Edited by EMIYA, Aug 9 2016, 03:57 PM.

Yeah, I died. I lost my Treecko fighting May and was left to face Brawly with a Beautifly and a bunch of Pokemon that are either weak to Fighting moves or utterly useless (Magikarp). Beautifly actually blitzed through every trainer and Brawly's first two Pokemon, but the Makuhita kept on bulking up while using it's Sitrus Berry and two Super Potions. By the time it was out of healing items my super effective Gust was doing a fifth of damage, and his 4x not very effective moves were knocking me down to the yellow. Annoyingly, I was switch-training some of my Pokemon when fighting the Gym trainers. If I had just solely used Beautifly she probably would have been a high enough level to take out Makuhita quick enough that it couldn't Bulk Up too much. I'll try another one at some point. Might go for Platinum instead. |
