I hope you do better than me. I recently did a Black Run and shockingly enough got fairly far, like...N's Castle far, beat the Elite Four and everything. Had a bit of a challenge with N, but again, almost shockingly managed to beat him. Unfortunately, we know what came next and you can guess what Ghetsis and King Ghidorah, AKA, Hydreigon, did to me. It was a decent run but ultimately I just couldn't handle the overpowered 3 headed dragon. That was some time ago, now I'm working on Black 2 and have recently arrived in Nimbasa City, which means Electric Gym and needless to say, quite a few of my Pokemon are a bit under leveled so I'll be doing a bit of grinding here. I'll give my Pokemon and stats in my next post (assuming I don't wipe) but I'll just say, I got rid of the useless grass snake. |

Our intrepid heroes continued their journey, but nary a step was taken before the spectre of death loomed large. Fonzy, the designated bug vanquisher, stumbled across a wild Riolu. Yellow health be damned, I figured I'd let him get a Scratch off before healing. Counter. Death. A rude awakening, as if we needed one, to the terrors that go hand-in-hand with the Nuzlocke challenge. After taking a moment to mourn the loss of Fonzy, we strolled into the Santalune Gym. However, once again, we were made to look foolish. The plan was to beat the gym's trainers before some last-minute grinding in preparation for facing the leader. Those plans were cut short when we realised there was no exit that didn't go through said leader. We were trapped between a bug and a hard place. The showdown got off to a good start. Ralph showed his worth by downing Surskit in two Tackles. However, that was always going to be the easy part. Next up was Vivillon. I sent out Rey so she could get off a few Tail Whips and make things easier for the other two. What I didn't plan for was Infestation trapping Rey into a battle she couldn't win. Luckily, Vivillon let up enough for the effects to wear off and I was able to switch Ralph in. I probably shouldn't have risked it, but the EXP payload was too good to resist. Fortunately, Vivillon decided against an Infestation and I was able to switch in Arnold without any troubles. The battle itself was a drawn out one, with both sides using potions, but Arnold proved to be too much for his opponent and we were one badge to the good. We left Santalune behind and moved onwards to Lumiose City. A new route meant a new Pokemon......unfortunately, the new Pokemon was a Combee. A male one. Nothing ever comes easy. Arnold, Lv 14 |

A little bit before arriving in Nimbassa City, we decided to go about in training in the Desert Resort, picking up along the way the Psychic/Flying Pokemone Sigilyph and a Yamask in the ruins. We hope that Yamask will evolve into a nice Confagirigus later on. We also, earlier than that picked up a nice little Sandile. Knowing that the upcoming gym would be best for him, we went about our way to leveling him up. A relatively difficult process due to the fact that Sandile is kind of weaksauce. In the end, we simply couldn't face Elesa until after Sandile evolved. However with the help of Growlithe, we spent our ways grinding through the city, and coming into some close calls as well. To our luck we actually managed to run into a Heracross. What luck we would have to get such a powerful force on the team. I new Growlithe could handle it...or so I thought. I did not expect a Counter from the robust bug. A devastating blow took out my fire dog. But we caught the might insect and while we might have lost one powerful friend, we gained another in return. By this point it was all about grinding, working our way up until we finally met the Gym leader on the stage itself. I could tell both Heracross and Krokorok were ready. I wasn't sure what exactly to expect. I remember, years ago facing off against happy-lucky Double Teaming Emolgas. As Heracross could Aerial Ace, a move that didn't miss, I decided to keep him up front. While not necessarily effective, there wasn't much those electric mons could do to the Great Bug Fighter. Unfortunately I underestimated how powerful Volt Switch could be. It wasn't enough to kill, but it was enough to put a decent amount of damage on Heracross and once the Electric Zebra arrived, it was time for Krokorok to have some fun. Electric moves meant nothing to the earthly gangsta gator and its fire move, Flame Charge, might have sped the Zebra up but couldn't do more than that. It didn't take long for the Great Gator to emerge victorious and knowing when epicness stands before them, the crowd cheered their victorious trainer and we were walked out with pride. --- --- As you can tell, not bothering with names, at least not right now. I got to start getting those other Pokemon leveled up too. It's amazing the gap difference. |

Don't like double posting but...doing it anyways. I got kind of bored with Black 2 so decided to go back to the original Black and see how things go this time. I've already gotten the first badge so I'll just start with where I am now. --- --- Chapter 01: Grass>Fire? We entered into the new town, eyeing the Normal Gym up a head. Before going there, it would be wise to grind up a bit as we went westward. Along the way we ran into a little school girl, eager to show off her tiny plant Pokemon. We humored her of course, out of good will and I sent Byrn, the Pansear against her Contonee an Petili. Unfortunately it managed to get off a Stun Spore, putting the Fire Monkey into a state of paralysis. However, with a little time, we took care of the Contonee and faced off against her Petili. While it was a level higher than Byrn, it was still a grass type. Incernate should fry it to a crisp. I had unfortunately overestimated the strength of and frankly capabilities of Byrn who while not only paralyzed, was Leech Seeded and put to sleep during the confrontation with the plan. As if mocking him, the Petili didn't even act as if the fire was hurting it. It would constantly heal itself, using growth to increase its power. It was we who were forced to use Super Potions, an act I am regretting since it was worthless to waste it on such an inferior Pokemon. Attacks wouldn't hit. Fire meant nothing to the plant and unceremoniously, Byrn the Pansear died to a combination of Mega Drain and Leech Seed. I never had much plans for Byrn but, it must be the greatest shame for any Fire Pokemon to lose to a weak grass Pokemon. Honestly, Grand Osh (the Dewott) would probably have done better. Of course I didn't want to risk the starter so we sent out Gistobat the recently acquired Blitzle. The petili had used growth to its maximum level and I was fretful on what a Mega Drain could do. Thankfully the Lightning Zebra did what the Type Advantage Fire Monkey could not. We all looked at Byrn. Dewott shook his head, Gistobat sighed and looked at me as if wondering why we wasted time with him. I couldn't necessarily disagree with the Zebra. It was customary to...bury our deceased...but we knew it wasn't worth it here. Honorable burials go with honorable deaths. Byrn was a mockery of his type, a joke that even the weakest of Slugmas mock. A fire type that can't even take a 1/4 of a Grass Types health down with a fire move has no right to call themselves a Fire Type. We put him where he belonged. We did not release him into the earth but boxed him into the "Pathetic" garbage where he belonged. The rest of the team feels rather confident now that the dead weight is gone. We rejoin our team of misfits as they journey onward to Lumiose City. On the way we discover that Stud the Combee, true to his name, is a virtual babe magnet, picking up honeys like there's no tomorrow (thought this was funny, named him before I found out he had Honey Gather as an ability). Too bad they're as useless as the male Combee that gathers them. Our arrival at Lumiose City gives us a surefire shot at adding a Pokemon worth it's salt, but not before taking on Sycamore, the starter hording bastard. Ralph the Bidoof starts the battle, facing off against Bulbasaur and downing it with ease. Next up is Squirtle. For some unholy reason, I decided to use Rollout. The seemingly never-ending cycle of rolling out leaves me at the mercy of the Squirtle, with the projected damage not enough to take him down. Luckily, Squirtle proves to be an idiot and a couple Withdraws later, the cycle ends and I switch into Arnold. Squirtle's now sky high defence proves a challenge, but Arnold dispatches of him in the end. The final showdown is a proving ground for Rey the Azuril. A couple of Water Guns is enough to down the Charmander and we walk out with the victory. The spoils of victory: Fenix the Charmander. Things are finally beginning to look up. Until the next new route dumps a massive, stinking heap of Bunnelby in front of us. As if things couldn't get any worse, Ralph's tackle ends up being a critical one and we didn't even add a new 'mon. Our continuing quest leads us to Camphrier Town, bringing with it a string of evolutions for Arnold, Fenix & Ralph. With three powerhouse Pokemon (Bibarel is pretty useful early on), we romped our way through the trainers (one with a Kadabra no less, always a challenge) and onward to Parfum Palace, but not before our now traditional bad luck with new routes. On our way to a piece of grass with endless possibilities, a god damn Venipede (one of my least favourite Pokemon) pounced from a bush and was subsequently downed in one hit by a Water Pulse. Nothing ever comes easy. Arnold, Lv.17 Ralph, Lv.15Edited by Mitas, May 30 2017, 10:08 PM.

Chapter 02: The Smallest of Winners After leveling up, we head off to face Lenora of the Normal Gym but not before we are faced off with the enigmatic character "N" though he posed little threat to our spruced up team. What mattered most was getting the "Basic Badge." The biggest worry we had was the Watchog and its Retaliate. While Grand Osh could surely survive a regular hit, if it managed to crit, it would be game over. However we had a plan, we would use Qurtz to take the hit, surviving through Sturdy and wasting the Retaliate. To our utter shock, something else happened. The Herdier went down without a hitch but when the Watchog came out, instead of retaliating it decided to "Leer" the little rock. We began to Sand-Attack it, slowly whittling down its accuracy bit by bit. It couldn't hit the rock and the little guy kept blasting it with sand, forcing it to miss again and again. It would have been something spectacular to see the tiny rock Pokemon, 8 levels below a fully evolved Pokemon take victory. It would easily have take the bitter taste of Byrn off of us. Unfortunately the Watchog was able to land some attacks and I simply couldn't waste too many potions on Qurtz. But with its accuracy depleted, Grand Osh came in for the kill. The rodent was unable to land a single hit on the watery otter and few well placed Razor Shells, the Basic Badge was ours! We celebrated our victory and while it was Grand Osh who secured the kill, it was the tiny little bundle of stone Qurtz who was raised highest in the air that day. I thought it was good, but not as good as I anticipated. However, I think that's possibly down to a major design flaw for me. I hate the new EXP Share mechanics (really zaps the fun out of the game for me), so refused to use it, but with this game they actually scaled the levels so you pretty much had to use it. That meant I had to spend a lot of time grinding for the first time ever on a regular playthrough because I was regularly 6-7+ levels behind. Took away from the momentum for me and it ended up taking me a way longer time to finish than any other time I've played a new Pokemon game. That aside though, it's an extremely well-made game. Lots of cool features, looks great. A little long (even allowing for the above criticism), but I'd say it's worth a try if you like Pokemon. |

Chapter 03: Bugging Battle Through out our journey we've run into the nefarious group known as Team Plasma, lead by the old fart Ghetsis himself. They claim they are here for freeing Pokemon but I thin they have more nefarious schemes under their belts. They tried to capture a Dragon Skull but thanks to our hard work, we got it back. We soon left the forest and made our way across the stunning bridge to Castellia City. Unfortunately Team Plasma was there, causing more trouble and stealing our ditzy friend's Munna. It didn't take us long to get it back though. We decided to train a bit, earning some levels throughout the desert and even caught a Darumuka named "Damita" who has joined our party. I'm usually not one to judge but...she's kind of ugly and the fact that one of her moves is "incinerate" kin of puts a bad taste in our mouth. But she also knows Fire Fang and unlike that worthless monkey, Damita's attack stat is pretty darn nice, the second highest of the group I dare say despite being one of the lowest level on the team. After getting a good work out, it was time to face off against the Bug Gym. While Grand Osh would be fine, the high usage of grass types in the gym prevented him from being used often. However, Gistobat, having learned "Flame Charge" soon burned his way through the insects until we got to Burgh. The battle unfolded as Gistobat and the Whirlpede duked it out. Gistobat's flames burned into the insect but the insects defense proved more durable than anticipated. It lashed out with several Poison Tails, digging its venomous stinger into the lightning Zebra. However, Gistobat persevered and without getting poisoned, a shocker, it took down the unruly bug. The next was Dwebble. Unfortunately, Gistobat was entirely useless against something like this but for Grand Osh, it was time to shine. It couldn't be called a hard battle but it did become obnoxious. Several Sand-Attacks were released, forcing Grand Osh, the Dewott, to miss. Unfortunately, the Dwebble's luck was cut short and a final Razor Shell put it out of commission. Now it was time for the Leavanny. A Bug/Grass type would be obliterated by a Flame Charge and we send our electric Zebra back. Despite the huge type advantage in the attack, the bug somehow managed to survive the Flame Charge and with green health too. We struck again, burning into the insect with more ferocity. It tried to strike but our zebra was too fast. With one final burning strike, we took home the badge and the victory of the day! Edited by EMIYA, May 31 2017, 09:10 PM.

I gave up on the current Nuzlocke. I didn't black out, but I lost quite a few Pokemon successively and because of the new EXP Share it makes it hard to train up new 'mons to replace them. I could have carried on, but most likely wouldn't have lasted much longer. Probably try a new one soon with the same game. |

I know the feeling. I've gotten a bit further with Black, though not without some...troublesome issues. However the good news is that I've gotten both the 4th and 5th Gym Badge so I'll try to break this down into the best way I can. --- --- Chapter 04: Revenge of the Servine! Into the battle with Elesa, the electric pokemon stood no chance against the rockin beast Krokorok Tremor who had been specifically leveled up to challenge such a place. We had trained specifically for this, if there was any challenge it was having to deal with double team happy Emolgas and yet Tremor's jaws of darkness chomped upon the poor creatures as if lac of accuracy was no problem. it is said that Krokorok's vision is rather good. Either way, while the battle was easy it was only due to the power of Tremor. Without him, we might have faced far more devious troubles. Earning our Bolt Badge, we went our way up where Cheren stopped us in our tracks. A battle huh? Well we obliged and we began. The only Pokemon who could really take on Servine was Gistobat who has Flame Charge. We began a furious battle, striking one another as electric Zebra burst into the snake with ferocity. However the Servine proved more powerful than expected. It began to build up energy, focusing its one final attack. It unleashed a mighty Leaf Tornado, tearing Gistobat down, ending its poor life at once. The snake, I can guess pleased with its victory, fell after succumbing to the effects of the sandstorm. A double kill and a loss to both sides. We eventually won though and made our way back to bury the Zebra. --- --- Chapter 05: Useless Fire Type Pokemon! As we begin to train and level up, we come across a Pokemon battle with a grass type (don't remember what exactly.) While the creature managed to drop Damita the Darumaka's accuracy once, the 100% accuracy Fire Punch should do the job. It should've been an easy battle, and yet, as if to remind us of that useless money, Damita missed! The first time was understandable but again! and again! and again! Give byrn some credit, at least he could hit something. I was confounded and deeply disappointed. Each time Damita missed, our opponent got stronger and stronger. The pokemon that should've easily taken care of this battle was being played likke a fool and if this went on, our team might just get wiped! It was a bit of a risk, but we sent Pazaea to put the creature to sleep and had Tremor finish the blow with a powerful Crunch. We might have won but there was deep derision for Damita that day. --- --- Chapter 06: Genocide+1 Arriving in Drifviel, our first option was to stop the glaring actions of Team Plasma who had come to take refuge in the Cold Storage. An easy victory for us though not without getting a very useful TM in Scald for Grand Osh. It's usefulness proved great not only here but later on as well. Grand Osh would be taking care of the gym but for now it was time to level up. Heading west, we ran into our first Pokemon, a little Deerling. It was time for Damita to prove herself again, a grass type should logically be unable to... And then from the sky Genocide Babmi rose and jumped kicked the stupid like fire Pokemon up its face, smashing its brains out in a single move and then marking its scent on his corpse! It looked at us like we were stupid and I'm pretty sure it said something along the lines of "suck it!" We sent out Kana the newly evolved Tranquil. We had to capture this thing and... Upon the skies Death Bambi rose, kicking the stupid bird so hard in the face its beak blew out the back of its head! What the heck was going on here!? Perhaps it was best to run but we knew we had to catch it. And after blood and sweat...we finally got our Deerling. We returned later to the gym, where compared to the brutality of the Deerling, Clay wasn't much threat to a scalding Grand Osh. Another victory...another badge. |

In the immortal words of the Notorious B.I.G.: it was all a dream! Turns out, I'm actually a girl who lives in the Pokemon Y universe. We begin our journey in the small town of Vaniville. Deja vu haunts our every step as we saunter towards nearby Aquacorde Town and it's promises of Pokemon. This time, however, the Pokemon deities hand down to us a Chespin, who I promptly name Maati. Putting aside the inevitable mourning that'll come when he evolves into the chubby Quiladin and the monstrous Chesnaught, we shrug off Shauna's weak challenge and move on to Santalune Forest. Just a few steps into the dark forest and we discover the first member of our budding fellowship: a Scatterbug named Bosley (who, true to his name, scatters things often). It doesn't take us long before the forest (and Shauna's incessant reminding that she will indeed heal our Pokemon whenever we want her to) is but a distant memory and we arrive at Santalune City, home to the first hurdle in our quest to be the best: the Santalune Gym. Before we challenge the gym, we explore the surrounding area in search of items, EXP, and, more importantly, new additions to our little group. The Pokemon Gods smile upon us with all their infinite wisdom, bestowing upon us two Pokemon who should prove vital for our upcoming challenge: a Fletchling & a Litleo named Josie and Roxie respectively. With our team looking in good shape, we stroll up to the Santalune Gym, the building cutting a much more imposing figure than those who reside inside. Josie and Roxie quickly strike up a friendship as they team together to trample through the gym and it's army of bugs. The battle with the leader went about as swimmingly as one could and we were one badge to the good. The town map marks out Lumiose City as the next stop on our quest. We cover the ground at a breakneck pace, eager to move forward in our journey, but not before adding the latest member of our team: Eve the Flabebe. I don't know if it's the new scenery, the long hair, the skirt, or the hat, but things are going pretty damn smoothly this time around. Maati, Lv. 14 Josie, Lv. 13 Eve, Lv. 12
