Going through Brock without catching anything and no potions is going to be hell, I can tell that already. Plus Pikachu's defense is kind of awful, in fact everything but his speed is kind of awful. Also as a question what are some of the rules you implement for your own play throughs (to everyone here) any specific rules you implement at all? I follow the basic Nuzlocke rules, can only catch the first thing in a new area, fainted=dead. I have it that I can't catch something I've already caught. One specific rule that I make is that I don't count One Hit Kills like "Horn Drill" (screw you PI Carlos) or things like "Destiny Bond" unless I can switch out. Which I assume if you switch out the Destiny Bond gets canceled. I've never actually tried it to be honest. Because at that point, that's not a challenge, that's just losing the luck based coin flip and I think its pretty unfair to lose to some random NPC whose Goldfish got off a One Hit Kill randomly on you. I was thinking about setting up on his Geodude. But bide might be better. @EMIYA It's my first time doing one of these so I'm only using the 3 rules. 1 hit kOs shouldn't be a problem for most of yellow besides the 8th gym I think. Maybe Blue's fearow? I forget. My biggest fear is self destruct and explode. Edited by Ding, Oct 11 2016, 10:30 PM.

If you get to Giovanni and the 8th Gym...wow. Fissure Dugtrio can at least be dealt with by a Flying Type and in fact Dugtrio literally can't hit any Flying Types beyond Sand Attack considering its moves are Dig, Earthquake, Fissure and Sand Attack. But then he's got that Rhydon with Horn Drill. --- --- So I once more tried to start a New Platinum Nuzlocke because I want to beat this. i want to say I did a Plat Nuz and beat it. I choose Turtwig because hey, Cure+bite and potential Curse+Earthquake sounds kind of amazing and...it died to Barry's stupid monkey. Level 11...and it couldn't handle the bird and the monkey. I also had a Zubat but whoop de doo on that. I'm sorry Mitas, you can have your turtle. I am going to restart, put in the cheat and get my little Mudkip back. I'd do it now but since the rival ha the Fire Type, I feel that's kind of unfair. But then again I think constant "Growl+Leer+3 missed tackles+Crit Scratch is also unfair...but I ain't letting this piece of work beat me. I'm going to beat it! I won! He was 1 hit away from knocking me out but Pickachu evaded all the killing blows. Set-up on Geodude and if I had to do it again I'd use tail whip on Geodude. Uploaded with vidme: https://vid.me/uxHC I highly recommend muting it if u watch Edited by Ding, Oct 12 2016, 01:32 AM.

That must've been quite a scary ordeal, coming that close to death. But congratulations on making it past Brock.![]()
--- --- Notes: So basically I chose Piplup so the rival could choose the Grass Starter and did basically everything up until the other one catches the Pokemon. At that point I actually put in another code to walk through walls/trees etc to get to Jublife without fighting the trainers, got the Poke Watch, caught the Mudkip and then again used the cheat again to walk through walls all the way back to Twinleaf. So basically other than the fight with the Barry (which I can't help) I have not fought a single thing, nor met a single trainer. So this is where its starting. And mind you had I lost to Barry in the first part, I would've Mudkip's level to 5 instead of 6. So here we go...again!

I planned on grinding out a few more levels just to be safe but once I hit level 15 (learned evasion) I lost all patience and just went for it.

It's been a long time since I've played RBY but I would always pick Charmander. Now a days I would certainly pick Squirtle because...Blastoise is just so much better. But I was one of those kids who thought Charizard was one of the most kickass things around and I always chose it. I don't think I actively grinded, I think I just constantly faced the gym until I leveled up through multiple battles and defeats and finally won. I also think I was under the impression that fire melts rock or something. I surely didn't have to bother with these Nuzlocke Rules back in the day that's for sure. I do know that it always took me a while to beat him. In fact I think most of the game was tedious up until you got to Celadon. One reason being that, if you didn't have something that knew Flash getting through that Rock Tunnel or whatever it was called was a nightmare. Edited by EMIYA, Oct 12 2016, 02:24 AM.

As a kid I don't remember using much aside from my starter. I guess I thought that there wasn't much of a point as long as your favorite Pokemon was a high level. I kept the others around just because they were cute. When I got older, I started using different Pokemon, but I never used any strategy or anything. In fact, I had all of my Pokemon learn the best physical moves that they could (even if they basically contradicted each other) and never used any other type of move. That led to many defeats. It took me ages to beat the Elite Four in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald even with cheats. |

Brock is actually extremely easily to beat with Charmander in gen 1. Onix's special stat is god awful, so even though it resists ember, it still does a decent amount of damage. And Onix also has no rock moves, so the only damage he could do was non-STAB normal moves with his equally pathetic attack stat. I'd say it's actually much harder to beat him in the remakes, despite Charmander getting metal claw. Not only does Onix now have a rock move which will help him take out Charmander in a couple of hits, but metal claw is a non-STAB physical move, so Onix tanks it pretty easily. |

I still vaguely remember my first ever Pokemon team. Blastoise, Nidoking (because I'd be an idiot not to get a final stage evolution at level 16), a Dewgong with Pay Day, and a Raticate. Those are the only details I remember, but I'm pretty sure I filled out the rest of the team with Articuno and Moltres. But yeah, I was really, really underlevelled and I think I had to start again to beat the Elite Four. I was about 9 though, so I cut myself some slack. |

Lol I'm about to go through that tunnel nlw without flash. ( You need to catch 10 pokrs to get flash) Water and electric gyms were easy. I'm suprised Surge only had a Raichu and nothing else. |

I actually still have the Rock Tunnel memorised. I had a guide for the game when I was younger, so never needed Flash, and I can still get through without it. Same story with the warp tiles in Sabrina's gym. I'm gonna start another Leaf Green Nuzlocke later today, join back in on the fun. |
