"I am the bone of my sword."

Platinum Update:

Welp, game over once again. Made it all the way to Snowpoint, had a Lucario, someone 4x resistance to ice with a massive special attack stat. I was literally ready to just solo through that whole gym and knock Candice's stupid head off her shoulders. Would've laughed as I did it. But no, I ran into a Piloswine earlier and Lucario was killed. So now I'm off trying to get a recently caught Magmar leveled up.

Unfortuntaely, Magmar has the defense of a wet paper bag...with holes, meaning that not only is it pretty much slower than anything Candice has, its going to be taking several hard hits. I managed to barely get by her first two Pokemon via Burn Infliction. Then of course her darn Frosslass arrived and hits like a truck with Blizzard, an attack that in hail I might add is 100% accurate and its own ability makes it more evasive in a hailstorm+that obscene Double Team.

I had thought I had it planned out. For example if I had that Lucario, Aura Sphere never misses and Magmar had Faint Attack. In fact many of my team had at least one surefire hit attack.

Leafeon with "Magical Leaf", Crobat with "Aerial Ace", Magmar with "Faint Attack" and Lucario with "Aura Sphere."

Not going to lie, it's very upsetting to make it this far. Screw all of Sinnoh's starters btw, Mudkip and his evolution has honestly got me further than those things have ever done. In fact Swampert swept through the Steel Gym earlier. Made it so darn far and with Lucario, I had something great to deal with lot of Galactic/Cyrus' Dark Types. But no, a little girl up north decided to kill them all and then tossed their corpses over the mountain.

It is a sad day today.

Yeah, I've gotten to both just before the 7th and 8th badges before on various games, really sucks to get that far and then lose it.

Well I don't know about the rest, but I have a TARDIS.

Once you've gone through the same game several times, you kind of get an idea of what's to come and be prepared for it much quicker. Plus when you've made it this far, you get inspired to keep going.

Lucario isn't 4x resistant to ice just for the record. Steel resists ice, but fighting doesn't.

Your right, I assumed if Fighting was effective it would naturally be resistant.

Because I have no life.

I actually haven't been playing too much these past few days, but that's just because I burned myself out with all the failed Nuzlockes. My entire day is pretty much taken up by me finding things to do because I'm unemployed. It can be pretty sweet, but also soul-crushingly boring.

Found my ds and started a Pokémon Yellow play.

Rules
No throwing Pokeballs
No potions
KO = death

I'll use Pichachu to start off until I receive and train magikarp and Charmander to level 20. I won't be using Bulbasaur or Squirtle.

The Pokémon you get from npcs are actually really strong so it shouldn't be too tough of a play.

I have one question........if you can't catch anything until you get the Magikarp, how are you gonna beat Brock?

That's going to the worst part. I'll grind him to a certain level and then use tail whip and quick attack or slam.

I'm not sure what a safe level would be. Brock's Onix is only level 12 in yellow so it should be doable.

Edit
Doesn't learn slam until level 20 as Mitas pointed out below.

It learns Slam at Lv. 20. That'll be a lot of grinding. You might be able to do it with multiple Growls & Tail Whips + Quick Attack (it also learns Double Team at 15 which could be useful), but the no potion rule will make it hard to set those up without being K.O'ed. Definitely going to be a challenge, interested to see how it goes.
