Yeah, Brawly can be a complete bastard if you go in underlevelled, or with a team that matches up poorly. |

If its any consolation, Nuzlockes do allow "mercy" rules if need be. I'm currently working on a Platinum Nuzloke...dear god I know...and while I'll give the run down on what's happened next post, I'll just say that things are going pretty well right now and I got me a Crobat. Perhaps the will of "Ragnar" lives on. Also I demand that you refer to the tentacool as "Tentacoolest"

I keep expecting to read news of Lazuli's death, but it never comes. Instead, he/she(?) seems to have been something of an MVP... If there's an electric type gym, I'm sure they'll meet their end there. Also, congratulations on finding your Coolest, and it's nice to see Squall fully embracing her femininity. Good on her. So here's how Platinum has gone down. As usual I've gotten quite a bit done and surprisingly things are going pretty well. --- --- Our adventure started off with obtaining "Roger Leaf" the Turtwig who will soon become a valuable member of the team, far more than I've usually given him that's for sure. Our first capture was a useless Bidoof. Well you know what I'm sure "HM Slave" will do some worth on the team." Later on we caught a dashingly handsome Shinx named "Mark Zap." Then, unsurprisingly we ran into a Starly and affectionately named her "Carmen Wing". I was eager to get that Staraptor and of course she would be useful against the grass gym. We quickly took care of things in Oreburgh and soundly defeated the gym leader but tragedy struck soon after. I had not planned for the dear Starly to be crit by the heinous gang known as Team Galactic! Woe be me! And before I had even reached the grass gym. The only thing I could do was pull out Zubat and start training "Marty Bat" to fill in the shoes of our lost flyer. A difficult case considering Zubat kind of sucks and doesn't evolve until Level 22. But we persevered! --- --- Arriving in that windworks, we challenged the devilish Commander Mars and sent out Roger Leaf. Unfortunately I wasn't sure how things would turn out against that awful Purugly. So I did the only thing I knew...juiced up the turtle with tons of "Curses" and then went to town! Victory! With that out of the way, we got to Eterna to take care of Gardenia. Unfortunately Marty bat was still in no position to fight even if he did know Wing Attack. Again, Zubat's basically a more competent Magikarp. But what else could I do? I resolved my will and threw Roger Leaf up again. Usually a grass type wouldn't be a threat to him, but these guys knew Grass Knot which does more damage the heavier your opponent is and Grotle ain't exactly light. So I did the only thing I could. I juiced that freaking turtle on "Curses" and bite through the competition! Victory! --- --- Our next journey was to the third gym. I had huge fears about the Ghost Gym and the wretched witch Fantina, especially Misagamus. Along the way though we did catch a Gligar. Maybe he would be useful for us in the long run. Coming to challenge the gym though, we tore through the minor trains and made our way to Fantina. I was wrong about Gligar, it died soon in the battle but its death did give us enough time to get the group together, especially after "Roger Leaf" had taken a serious burn. it was all or nothing now and you know what that meant. Curse! Curse! Curse! Curse! Curse! Juice up that attack and defense, who cares about speed it's a turtle and use the might of "Bite!' Once more...Victory. --- --- By the time we got to Veilstone, both Mark Zap and Marty bat had already evolved. I'd also like to mention that a bit before, we had also caught a Psyduck named "Walter H20" and got ourselves a little Eevee. As we battled through the trainers in the gym, a glorious thing happened. Golbat became a Crobat! He would be useful against this flying gym. Though I still worried greatly about that terrible Lucario and Machoe did know Rock Throw if I remembered correctly. Still like steel, we resolved our wills and fought against the killer Mayleen and Crobat soon took care of that foolish Meditide. I did not dare let him fight again Machoke. I knew it wouldn't be good enough to finish the job in a single move and didn't want to risk Rock Throw. So I... A.) Sent out Psyduck and used Confusion nonstop. B.) Sacrificed "Sir Tail" the Eevee to give Crobat an edge. C.) Blacked Out. D.) Pounded Torterra none stop with so many curses it was practically high on the stuff and then beat the living hell out of everything with 6x the attack stat! if you said D....you are correct. --- --- Now, to our final gym of the moment. The water gym. I had to be careful with this one. Gyarados is no joke and Floatzel's ice fang being 4x effective was something I simply didn't want Roger Leaf to deal with. But I had luckily planned a head and also before, as if luck had shined down, caught my favorite Pokemon Scyther. Oh I have big plans for "Carmen Cut" but she wouldn't be part of this battle, I would wait. But one thing I did do was evolve Luxio into a powerful Luxray and challenged Crasher Wake. With the help of Luxio to take some damage, we did the only thing we've done in the past battles and you know what it is. We chucked a rage filled, curse drinking, attack/defense boosting giant turtle at everything and took care of business! And we also evolved Eevee into Flareon! Phew...and with that...our adventure continues. (Roger Leaf, Lv 35) (Sir Tail, Lv 24) Edited by EMIYA, Oct 6 2016, 10:07 PM.

Damn, I'm tempted to do another Nuzlocke. They took up a bunch of time and now I'm sitting around trying to find something to do. Might try X/Y again. |

Lazuli is destined to meet his/her end soon enough. Wingull has very low stats. I'm not sure how Pelipper fares; I've never actually used a Pelipper before. Or even a Wingull, for that matter. This challenge is interesting. It's been ages since I've played Ruby, but I think the electric gym is coming up next, and I have nothing to combat that. Pretty sure he can. He can also learn ExtremeSpeed and mirror the real life Buuberries, if you know what I mean

Yeah, I don't think you get it until the place after the route with all the soot, which is a short while after the electric gym. Not very helpful item placing. |

You're in luck though, Wattson uses Magnemite and Magneton, both steel types which are weak against fire so "Koala" should be able to handle them easily. Reading up on bulbapedia he also has a Voltorb which isn't steel but something Torchic (Or Combustiken as I'm sure you have already) should handle. Another positive is that Muaville is right by the Day Care so if you need to do a quick bit of leveling up, there's that.

Pokemon Ruby Nuzlocke Challenge: Adventure Log #4 Welcome to the team, Pelador and Strawberry! ![]() ![]() Not much has happened so far, but I felt like updating for the sake of a couple of funny things that happened. First of all, I had to deal with the second rival encounter, and that was a piece of cake. Just used Pelador to match up against his Marshtomp, Lazuli against Numel, and Koala against Shroomish. Now I'm in the next town training up to take on the gym. Not sure what level his Pokemon will be at, but I think we've got this (hopefully). For you, Sam: Spoiler: click to toggle Also, this happened because I'm playing at work and wasn't giving the game my full attention. Totally panicked. ![]() Buuberries evolved right after her near-death experience. - Koala, Lvl. 21 - Pelador, Lvl. 20 - Buuberries, Lvl. 20 - Lazuli, Lvl. 19 - Sam, Lvl. 15 - Coolest, Lvl. 13

So things went south... I got to the Steel Gym, had both Roger Leaf and Sir tail at the ready. Fire being strong against Steel I'd been training up Flareon for a while. So I come in, start Earthquaking some foolish Steel Types, ground also being super effective and what happens? A Siczor takes out "Roger Leaf" so not only am I without the Starter, I basically have nothing to deal with the Electric Gym later on and my "Curse" strategy is gone. And then what happens next? Sir Tail dies to a Rock Sliding Steelix, would've survived actually if it hasn't been for Sandstorm. Built that guy up to Level 38 as well but guess I for how much Flareon's defense sucks. Which is really no excuse for Torterra with its massive defense. But I guess that's what I get for choosing the grass starter. Seriously next time I choosing Chimchar. So now I'm at a steel gym, the only fire type I got is a level 21 Ponyta and nothing else. I swear if I make it out of this one... |
