So, am I the only one here who's patiently waiting for FFVII remake in 2017?

I'm keeping one eye on it. I'm not sure if it being released in sections is a good sign or a bad sign, but it could be good. Plus, if it comes to Xbox down the line when the supposed exclusivity is up, it should hopefully be as a complete package. Edited by Sandy Shore, Jul 29 2016, 10:21 AM.

I doubt it, by the sounds of it, it is just that big. I hope this brings about the return of multi-disc games that are massive. Too many games these days have a s***ty 7 hour story so I really wouldn't mind something high quality, spread over multiple discs, costing a bit extra. If you buy the discs separately it seems like a cool idea to me, the first might not take your fancy so just sell it and not much is wasted. Anyway can't wait to see the game, I just really hope it has everything and isn't just cut up to farm as much money as possible since it's a remake of one of the most popular games of all time. Probably my biggest hope is that the soundtrack isn't too different, of course it will be very different but I don't want it filled with lame J-Pop stuff when not necessary up to date renditions of the originals is all we need. Also hopefully we get an item like in Pokémon that let's you run the previous soundtrack, that would be really cool. |

Is Final Fantasy VII really such a big game that it needs to be broken up again? Sure, it was huge at the time, and, sure, it's going to be lot bigger than the original with all the up to date tech, but I'm not sure whether it's just an excuse or not. The worry comes from them possibly using "game one" to garner feedback, which results in them tweaking the system a bit for "game two", which would create a disjointed mess. If they're just breaking it up for storage space, and not intending to change things up in each section, why not wait until the entire thing is finished and just go the multi-disc route? Even if it's another year or two wait, at least it would, hopefully, be a seamless experience. Multiple discs would play in to the nostalgia. The worst thing they could do is make each section its own game, and without the ability to import save data. |

It might be that big. FFXV they can design around limitations but with FFVII they need to do that and keep it as close to the original as possible which is no doubt going to take a lot more resources. Something like Midgar would probably be pretty damn CPU heavy if it's all one seamless area. Or if they just make it more city-like. Hopefully they pad the game out a bit with more mini-games and side quests, some new content would be nice as long as it doesn't break game balance. In any case I'd rather it be broken up in to stable pieces rather than all crammed in to one disc and buggy or missing a lot of parts from the original. |

I hope it's successful only because one of the next most logical remakes would be FFVIII since iirc it's either the first or second best selling FF game. |

FFX is the 2nd best selling FF game. I think 8 might be No. 3. |

I had no idea they were making a remake of it. Should be good, it's still my favorite one. |

No that's just the PS2 version of FFX being accounted for. Raw numbers of the Top 3 FF games... http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Best_selling_Square-Enix_games FF7: 11.14 Million FF10: 8.05-10 Million FF8: 8.711 Million But yeah I do agree that they should remake FF8 if they ever decide to do another FF remake in the future given that FFX already had a remaster and that FF8 can use it more. The only question is if Square Enix is going to do another remake in this style which I doubt given that FF7R was a result of overwhelming fan demand. |

Unfortunately yeah. However, whoever's spearheading the FF7 remake has voiced interest in doing the same for other older FF titles. So it's not completely out of sight. It just depends on the success of FF7R |

I'm pretty sure FF7R is going to sell like hotcakes so maybe that would entice SE to go the remake route again. I just have my doubts given the massive production costs with FF7R and if they're going to put the same resources into a hypothetical FF8R which doesn't have nearly as much fan demand as FF7R did. Here's hoping though. |
