You're in charge of the U6 arc for Dragon Ball Super, and about the same amount of time as it had in or timeline to tell that story. How would you handle this arc whole letting the basic premise and keeping in mind the next saga that comes later? |

1. Keep Frost as a good guy. The "surprise twist" was completely unnecessary IMO. 2. Give Piccolo a victory. Either have him start the tournament and beat Botamo then lose to Frost, or beat Frost and lose to Magetta. 3. Have Vegeta's Final Flash be what actually beats Magetta. The verbal insult being the finishing blow cheapened the finish. 4. Goku goes after Vegeta by default. Mainly because I'm too lazy to work around Frost being good affecting Goku's loss and re-entry. If someone has a solution without making Frost bad then feel free. |

I've been waiting for a topic like this to see how those who are more or less bitter toward Super would write the story up till now, and beyond... But I think it isn't so much a simple thing to take on as it is difficult. I'm not the only member here that has been with these characters since Dragon Ball, up through DBZ, the bumpy ride that was GT, and now on to Super. I feel that I know these characters and the overall lore of Dragon Ball well enough to do it justice with my own take on how things should have went thus far, and how things will follow. One of the most important things I would do personally is flesh out the backstory of the new characters we've seen up till now. Character development should always be a very important part of any anime. Because so far that has barely even been done with Super. Even for your less serious anime, character development should be crucial. But going in hand with character development would also be the importance of having a well paced, strong and engaging story. It's a bit of a taboo in my mind to contradict or betray the history of Dragon Ball, and like many have pointed out, Super does this pretty regularly. For the sake of things making sense? That seems to be the reasoning behind these changes but it isn't reason enough. And what a mess it's made of the story in Super too. There's an almost complete detachment from things that took place before the events in Super. Mentioning things that took place in the past isn't a way of recompense either. Lore or history in an anime I think is very important to not betray or just forget about. So right now that is how I would handle things going forward. I would make things interesting, and completely worth watching. Fights would be a central focus of course, not this two episode bouts and then lackluster conclusions. People want those epic battles that mean something. And I'd give the viewers exactly that. Along with a story that not just my viewers would want to be engaged in. But a story that I would want to be engaged in. |

Have time dedicated to the back stories of each U6 fighter. It might lessen the mystery of Hit, but I think that it would work far better if we'd just get a three minute story for each of them. Don't make Frost evil, that twist was one of the dumbest things ever. Give Botamo actual dialog If Frost still cheats, then let Piccolo rematch him and win Hit tells Champa to f*** off instead of just cowering to him, and Goku backs him up on that. Explain that Hit has some morality. This helps make Goku look like less of a psycho if he isn't befriending someone who'd kill children for money. Goku doesn't start off in base against Hit. |

Not much I would do different tbh. For Goku vs Hit I would want SSR in the anime instead of just the manga. I would probably want somebody else to start off like Piccolo who could beat Botamo then lose to Frost. I liked having Goku fight Frost so that part still could have been in there, so I would still want Goku to fall asleep because of Frost then in the next fight have Vegeta beat the crap out of him. The rest of the tournament I would have go the same except maybe make the fights drag out a bit longer. I also would be okay with Frost being a bit stronger, he was a woosy compared to Goku and Vegeta. |
