Losing your temper

How often do you lose your temper when playing games and how bad can it get?

The worst for me was when I was playing one of the Tiger Woods games on Xbox 360. I slammed by fist down on my xbox scratching the disk, I threw the game's case at my wall and I almost pulled my bedroom door from its hinges. Took a while to calm down as well.

I lose my temper basically every time. I can't stand losing unless I deem it a fair loss, which is like 1% of the time. The worst I can remember it getting is slamming a controller into the floor/wall, breaking it. I maintain enough control to not throw the console out the window because I know I can't afford to just replace it every other day.

I used to get mad at my games, but now if I find myself getting frustrated I just put it down.

Yeah I'm way better now than I used to be. I don't have tantrums any more.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

It pisses me off when a game is just unfair for no reason, like in a platform if you miss a jump by a single f***ing pixel you die or when you die but you clearly made the jump.

The worst I can remember is Assassins Creed 3 right at the end, I just wanted the f***ing game done and I couldn't do this bit where you run through a burning boat because f***ing what's his face kept running up random bits of wall or invisible walls, while on a timer.

Made me throw my PS3 controller at the radiator, my sexy scarlet red controller...
Thankfully it did and still does work fine, if slightly missing a bit of plastic.

I just learned to take what happens in games with a grain of salt, win or loss, cheating or not, hiccup or not.

What will you do when you get old?

I don't, but when I was like 12 I was playing Spider Man 2 for Gamecube, and I was trying to beat Doc Oct on the train or something at the end of the game, it took me like 50 tries before I gave up and never touched the game again.

As a kid I used to get emotional to the point of crying, although with those cases it was an older sibling facing me in a game they dominated in so it's kind of understandable. As the years have gone on I've gradually downgraded to now where I actually laugh at myself for some of the mess ups I do. The worst I've done is groan and slap my knee when I'm real close to beating something or someone and they pull out that last oorah! On my a***.

Yeesh. If I failed a certain part fifty-times I'd feel all the more inclined to keep going - that's far too many attempts to just give up.

Success or a breakdown are the only legitimate outcomes.

I tend to get salty when I'm playing video games online. It's not as bad if I'm just playing a game against AI or local co-op with people I know, but online gaming is infuriating. Like what Lazuli was saying about Call of Duty: World at War, I can remember actually detesting that game purely because of how many times I'd just randomly die, even when I was in cover and especially if I had just re-spawned.

More recently Overwatch has been the big online game I've been playing and there will be the odd game every now and then that just pisses me off because I (and my team) are just being outclassed by people far better than we are, or my team just choose stupid characters (e.g. I'll be playing D.Va and the rest of them decide to all be Hanzo or something). It's just frustrating for both reasons and in the case of Overwatch particularly, there are just some really annoying characters on it. Some take practically no skill at all to play because an aimbot is doing the work for you (e.g. Soldier's 76 ultimate and Torbjorn's turret) or others are just spammy and can kill you on complete fluke (e.g. Junkrat and Hanzo's arrows).

I think Matchmaking is usually the source of my anger. Being put up against people who are much better at the game than me and generally have more time to play it (because I am very much a casual gamer) just takes the fun out of it sometimes, leading to rage.

I don't get 'break stuff' angry. My frustration usually just comes out by swearing or talking out loud either at the game or whoever I'm playing against. The one game that bucks that trend is Football Manager though. I get angry at that game. Nothing crazy since I'm not really a 'break stuff' person in general, but I would slam my fist on the computer desk, or on my thigh, or turn the PC off at the mains, that sort of stuff.

I punch myself in the thigh instead of breaking things because then I think "that kinda hurt so maybe I should take a break for a while" and don't have to shell out money to replace broken stuff

But when I was younger I broke my gameboy because I think I couldn't catch a pokemon and then I told my parents I dropped it but they didn't believe me lol
