Novacane for the pain

With the Euro's over and actual competitions starting up, it's time for a shiny new thread for a new season.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Leicester got a pretty friendly draw. They have a real chance of getting out of that group.

My Grandad's not happy with the Celtic draw. He said it didn't matter which group they were drawn in, his hopes were pretty low, but he's worried they'll embarrass themselves. Really intersting to see City drawn against Barca though, with the Guardiola connection.

Disappointing to draw today, but that's not a bad result away against Tottenham. And again, 4 points from the first 9 isn't ideal, but not terrible considering all three have been away fixtures.

On the plus side, Plymouth won again. Lets hope they don't get a bunch of injuries like what happened last year.

My friend won over £2000 on a football bet yesterday. Can't remember what other games he had bet on, but he was waiting on Newcastle to win either 1-0, 2-0, or 2-1. Brighton went down to 10 men early in the second half so it was tense for him watching it hoping Newcastle didn't capitalise on the man advantage and score 3 or 4. The thing is, he bets so much that even the odd win like that doesn't really pay for his losses.

Double post, but it's been almost two months.

Premiership is looking tight at the top, just 3 points separating 1st from 5th. I still fancy Liverpool's chances of at least challenge with the advantage of not being in Europe, but it looks like it's gonna be open to multiple teams. It's been nice to have teams outside of the regulars challenging for and, in Leicester's case, winning the title. Ditto for the Champions League spots, even if it has caused Liverpool to miss out more often than not.

Since when does the EFL Trophy have groups? Is that new or have I just missed that all these years?

It's new and is a way to give the under 21 teams some experience.

It's having a negative effect on attendance. Under 1,000 for multiple fixtures. Multiple Premiership and Championship sides have also been playing older players, some on the wrong side of 30, which sort of defeats the object of allowing them to compete in the competition.

Holy s***, that Swansea vs Crystal Palace game looked awesome. Might even watch MOTD tonight to see it, which I haven't watched in years.

I really hope Plymouth win tomorrow. It's a second round FA cup match against bottom of the League Newport so they should win handily but they've been in such bad form.

A 0-0 draw. Not ideal, but at least they still have a shot at a third round draw and getting someone good.

Also, wow. 2-0 and 3-1 up and don't even come out of the game with a point. Great job Liverpool, kudos.

I'm starting to think Manchester United and Plymouth Argyle are spiritually linked.

Oh s***, Liverpool drew Argyle/Newport. It's at Anfield though, although I doubt I would have been able to get tickets anyway. Cool though.

That's assuming Argyle make it through.

There shouldn't even be a question of beating Newport.
