Yeah, but it isn't just about "going outside," as I outlined earlier. It's mostly about exploration and socialization. It's an incredible move for the gaming community.

I don't think this is an "incredible move" by any means. Pokemon has tried this before with their games and it has always blown over. The fact that kids are playing this game and going outside just shows how blown up technology is. I know it's a different topic all together, but when I was a kid we didn't have cellphones. I got my first phone when I was 12-13 years old.

Exploration and socialising are generally included in going outside.

I totally disagree. I think the game is an awesome move. I'm 22 years old and loving it. A lot of people are. So clearly numerous people disagree. Agree to disagree I guess.

The fact of the matter is, when you visit Pokestops you're surrounded by people who are also playing the game, so you get to bond together over something that you're all doing. That is something I've never experienced before.

So when you meet up with other players, do you ever put your phone down?

Usually we battle with each other, but yes, I put my phone down. Also, there's a thing called multi-tasking that I'm pretty good at as well.

Y'don't even have to talk, just being in an area with people who're like-minded enough to love the same thing you do is amazing. Like, whenever I attend game meet-ups, I rarely talk to anybody in-depth, it's just a nice and relaxing experience to be in a social situation where everyone else is in the same boat you are. Pokemon Go just extends that to everyday life instead of specific meet-ups and events.

Watching WGN9, and they have one of their anchors going around Chicago playing Pokemon GO, it's amazing watching her play and try to scope out who's doing what.

I'm not even sure why I am trying to instigate an argument/discussion within something I don't even have an interest in.

My bad, just continue as if I never said anything at all.

I saw a review for Pokemon Go that said "as a game it is not very good, but what makes it great is that it motivates people to go outside". People realise they can go outside just for the sake of going outside, right?
"Motivates people" is the key phrase there. There's no motivation to go outside if you don't get anything out of it.

I'm not saying it doesn't create those opportunities (and I don't want it to seem like I'm trying to badmouth the actual game). It sounds like it does create those opportunities and it's always good to have more reasons to get outside and socialise. I just don't get the general feeling that they've invented this sort of thing. Like I said, you can go outside for the sake of going outside and exploring your surroundings. You can go to sports courts and meet other people who are playing sports and play a game with them/socialise with them (just using sports as an example because that's something I'm familiar with). You can walk your dog in a park and socialise with other dog walkers. It's not a new thing.

But like I said, I don't want it to sound like I'm belittling people's enjoyment of the game. Everyone needs to find the thing that gets them about and if the creation of Pokemon Go has done that for you and other people, that's great.

I hate that any interruption turns the sound off on my game. I get a text, sound goes off. I get a notification from another app, sound goes off. I have to restart the app to get it back. Dunno if that's just me or what.

I started up again just to beat my friend who's level 20 now. Once I beat him, I'll probably be good again.

My Dear Melancholy,

I got bored of this after a few hours to be honest. Wasn't my type. Probably cause I was never into Polemon.

Well, I wouldn't be into polemon either, sounds like a polish bastardization of everything Pokemon.
