I think purple might be Toriyama's favorite color for villains, at least the main ones. Vegeta's Gallick Gun was purple. Ginyu's aura was purple. Frieza's aura was purple. Majin Buu's aura was purple. |

It does seem to have that evil feel behind it and that's something that's even continued in DBS. Like Hit and Goku Black. Edit: And movie villains like Turles. Edited by Son-Goku, Jul 8 2016, 02:58 PM.

In the anime the entire Ginyu Force's aura was purple (even though Burter and Jeice's aura changed to blue and red when they used ki attacks), and Freeza's aura was shown as a baby blue color in the anime. You've still got a point tho. |

Freeza and Ginyu was even colored purple, aura aside. That's a little more proof of this. It's not just a DBZ thing though. Look at my set. It's a aign of disturbance more than anything, and well, who better to showcase disturbance than villains? Edited by Dankness Lava, Jul 8 2016, 06:44 PM.

In DBS, I've only seen Goku vs. Hit. It was a great fight. Is Hit a villain? Goku only called him an assassin. |

Piccolo is green, Tien wears green, Saibamen are green, Cell is green. Babidi is...sort of green, although that might be a stretch. |

Joker, Galvatron, Thanos, Magneto, the list goes on all throughout fiction. Purple is usally associated with bad guys. There are several reasons for that. If you notcie, most good guys, especially in comics, were colored in with primary colors. Such as Superman and Spiderman. Back in the day it was easier and cheaper go use primary colors and considering that the superheros got more time in the comics than the villains, primary colors were used and secondary colors became uses for the baddies. Purple dye was one of the most expensive dyes back in the old days, thus rich people could afford it. Thats why it's associated with royalty and being rich. Also, back in the day, due to technical limitations, only certain colors would show up vividly on television and such. This is why Disney used it for their villains. Granted times have changed with technology and coloring but purple being used for bad guys seems to be a trend that stuck. In other words, there are reasons but they're not that profound. Good point. All of those villains, however, are non-canon. It seems like purple is the preferred color for canon villains, at least the main ones (except Cell). Edited by SuperSaiyan1993, Jul 10 2016, 03:23 PM.

Also, I want to say that Freeza's aura in the anime was inconsistent. Sometimes, it's blue![]() Sometimes it's red and black Sometimes it's pink/purple ![]() |
