How strong was Babidi?; Without magic, how tough would he be?

In the Buu Saga, Babidi is supposedly pretty weak compared to everyone else as far as physical strength and ki go, but how would he rank against everyone in the Frieza saga or even the Saiyan saga?

I don't seem him being much stronger than Nappa when he arrive on Earth. He was a lot like Guldo; without his unusual ablilites, he was a complete pushover.
I'm getting very angry with you, and for me that is a very bad thing, so watch yourself.

I doubt he could beat BoDB Goku. He threw cars and bullets to the head mildly annoyed him. Take away magic and I don't see Babidi sharing those feats.

East Kaioshin probably said it best. Babidi without his magic is a basic b***. However, with his magic, he's a match for Kaioshin. It seems odd that Kaioshin would say "I'll pin him down" instead of "I'll wipe this b*** out" to Gohan before they met up at Boo's egg.

Probably weaker than Bulma. His magic powers are what make him strong.

That's what I figured, but he seems strong enough to fly. I figure he's at least stronger than Hercule, but even the weak Buu saga Yamcha easily stomps him in terms of power-level and ki.

Although for all we know, it may be magic and not ki that allows him to fly. :o

The only info we have on his power is what the wikia page lists as him being capable of using flight via Ki. He did avoid a Kamehameha deflected by Buu but I take that with a grain of salt since he was one-part gag after the ship portion of the arc. Consistently maintaining flight high up in the air while shockwave currents are emitting all around the place during an intense SSJ3 tier battle doesn't paint him in a bad light. At the very least he could be above the 23rd tournament characters, but then you have to remember that this is the Buu arc we're talking about where Videl was able to fly at a speed of what must have been dozens of kilometres at a decent pace with Kibito and Gohan in spite of being comparable to Mr Satan of all people.

I want to put him ahead of the DB era characters. He's still technically an alien in spite of his background as a wizard. Aliens not having been raised on Earth tend to have an advantage in power compared with Earthlings who have yet to be exposed to those kinds of conditions. He would be below Guldo though due to the little guy being part of a special combat unit directly under the control of Frieza.

Not sure how strong Babidi is on his own, but Piccolo seemed to put a lot of effort into slicing him. Or so it seems. Maybe he was just pissed, which is understandable after getting turned into stone. Perhaps Babidi isn't strong in the physical sense, but he's probably really tough.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Didn't Piccolo have to break through Babidi's barrier first? That could be the source of his straining.

Isn't that anime only?

Anime only scene.

In the manga Babidi didn't use his barrier.

Well I never even knew it was Piccolo that sliced him! I always thought he was sliced in two by the huge blast of Vegeta"s selfdestruction.

To give him a power level, he would probably only have a level 1. Physically he is weak, the only thing that makes him strong is his magic.

I've only ever watched the Anime. However, it was the Funimation version that came on Cartoon Network back in the early 2000's, so they probably deleted the scene of Piccolo slicing him in half due to it being too violent (in their inaccurate opinion anyways).
