I've never really had depression issues during the day. I'll have a normal, or even great day, but then sometimes when I go to bed, as soon as my head hits the pillow, a bunch of sad depressing thoughts about life hit me. It's not so bad that it keeps me up for hours but its still annoying Has anyone else here ever had this? I've heard that this is actually pretty common Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Jun 29 2016, 07:40 AM.

It's more than common. I'm pretty sure it's the norm. |

It happens to me. Bed time is usually the only time I have to think about a lot of things, to include negative thoughts. |

If you're laying there waiting to go to sleep, the only thing you can do is think. Your mind starts to run and if you have a depressive nature, it's only natural for those thoughts to take a negative turn. |

I had it happen to me at work last week when I started thinking about the film Up. To be fair I'd been in a melancholy mood for a while before that and I'm still not fully over it. |

It always happened to me until I just drowned it out with music or videos on my phone or, and this is cheesy, happy thoughts. |

What's the prerequisite to acquire happy thoughts? I get the frightful suspicion that it requires one to be happy. |

Supposedly trying to keep a positive attitude but that's not always easy when life seems to be against you. |

Whatever is more significant in your life is going to take over your thoughts. |

Like England's recent defeat and to a lesser extent the divisions in The Labour Party. |

What will you do when you get old?

Every day I think about suicide. Not so much committing suicide, but just suicide in general, how much it affects the people close to me, the people in my community, and people worldwide and while I know and interact with a lot of people on a daily basis, only a handful would ever remember me, and once they are gone I wouldn't imagine any others would either. |

She's been showing them off to other people? Looks like I'm going to be thoroughly punishing someone tonight. Sure, a happy thought may arise, or you might intentionally try and think of something positive, but if your mood is as down as Charlie Sheen with hookers, it's going to be followed by something like, "that's not true, though". Conversely, a person as high as Charlie Sheen on coke having negative thoughts is probably going to be followed by something like, "I'm probably overthinking it". If you can trick yourself in to being happy, then I should envy you. Not that I don't already. |

i used to think a lot of negative things and they always ruined my mood -- in the past i ended up isolating myself from my friends for months bc of it, so it's not something i want to do again. if i think negative things these days it's bc i'm trying to figure out how i can get over whatever it is or even solve it. it's a choice for me now to let negative thoughts eat me from the inside, but i understand it's difficult to get to that point in the first place. edit: not that i never get negative -- im still human.
