"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I distinctly remember Toriyama stating that he drew a lot of inspiration of elements in DB from Star Wars, which I wouldn't doubt considering he parodied and referenced it numerous times during his Dr. Slump run since it was prime real-estate at that time. In addition to this, George Lucas stated that a lot of the concepts in Star Wars when it came to the Jedi and The Force were inspired by Asian cultural beliefs with chi/ki.

I think of ki as The Force in Star Wars.
The single energy that unites and binds everything in the universe, with people being able to manipulate that energy and use it to their advantage.
However, ki seems different in Dragonball than the force because one can increase their ki by increasing their physical condition. Jedi only seem to hone their skills by becoming better with manipulating the force, and not actually physically training rigorously in order to increase their own capacity for it.
That seems to be where the two divert and are different.

Ki in DB is used for things other than fighting, although we rarely see that side of it.

Actually, The Force can allow you to be stronger, faster or tougher, increasing one's level of strength, speed and durability to superhuman levels.

Not much training is required, though they DO train. They also meditate to have better control over The Force.

Ki ain't much different to be honest.

On-Topic: Ki is (for the most part) a bunch of generic energy blasts. They are cool, but there's not much that makes them unique besides the appearance. Sometimes they're cool, like the time Goku moved his kamehameha to hit King Piccolo behind him, that's pretty original. But for the most part, Ki attacks don't do much but being shot and blowing up stuff. Beam struggles aren't cool anymore.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

King Piccolo can take out a city with a casual ki wave of his hand. His Makosen attack is undoubtedly stronger though lacks destructive feats to show it.

I found this interesting though:

Chapter: 161, P13.4
Yajirobe: “But man, what kind of a guy are you?...I can’t believe you beat someone who could blow a city to pieces…”

Does this mean Goku was taking at least city level attacks during his battle with King Piccolo? Tien also had a comment that related to Goku's destructive power (from a knee kick to Drum's face). Are the two related kinda?
