Off topic but why are women more likely to lean towards bisexual than men? Are there any biological reasons for it at all or is just a social thing? Since men being in any way homosexual is still quite frowned upon across the world. Can't really imagine what biological reasons there would be. Homosexuality as a form of natural population control makes sense but bisexuality somewhat goes against that since you enjoy both and can still reproduce due to that. |

It doesn't need to be explained but I'd still like an explanation on why it exists 'cause so far I know it makes no biological sense. Our biological purpose is to reproduce, 100% homosexuals make sense for population control but bisexuals are an enigma on that front. Everything happens for a reason as is often said, interested in what that might be. |

It's social, Steve. It's more socially acceptable for women to make out with women than it is for men to make out with men. Historically, it's usually more accepted for women to have homosocial relations with one another. I've always known that I was attracted to both genders, but I never really acted on my attraction to men until recently. I had psychologically conditioned myself against it due to bad past experiences. |

If it's down to social acceptance and expectations, wouldn't that just mean that more women admit to being bi, not that more women are bi? |

Definitely. Though, unfortunately, we only have information on the people who've openly expressed it, so anything past that is a total guess. |

I don't know. Possibly. There's also the fact that many men are so conditioned against it that they convince themselves they are straight and live their whole lives thinking that without ever looking into the other side. Bisexuality isn't like homosexuality. It can be easily masked or forced down psychologically if you want it to be. I did pretty much the opposite by convincing myself I was a lesbian. I could have lived my entire life as a lesbian and been content with just that, but I didn't want to be content with just that. Edited by Doggo Champion 2k17, Jun 20 2016, 07:21 PM.

But that doesn't mean you were a lesbian, or those men aren't bisexual. It just means you haven't come to terms with/fully understood where you actually fall on the spectrum. |

Well, yes, but that would be why many men don't ever come out as being bisexual, which is what causes the ratio we're talking about. |

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that bisexuality is a real orientation. That's not to say that everyone under that banner is bisexual, though. Could very well be straight, gay, bi curious etc and are just confused or still maturing. |

Of course it exists... even if it was just a phase or whatever, it still would technically exist. Does a caterpillar not exist because it eventually turns into a butterfly? I know that's a weird comparison, but, I think you get my meaning with it. I of course think it actually exists though and not a phase. I believe in the Kinsey scale as mostly accurate in terms of determining an individuals' sexual interactions. |
