Dead by Daylight; It's basically an inferior version of Friday the 13th: The Game

You know how there's a Friday the 13th game that'll come out at some point in 2016?
This is pretty much the only competition that game's got, and it's pretty disappointing. This game isn't challenging the F13 game at all, it's more like a bad clone, despite both games being first announced around the same time.

Dead by Daylight is a really simple game. You can be any of 4 survivors (who get names for some reason) and you're trying to escape some killers. There are many killers, some that can apparently go through walls, which sounds incredibly unfair for a game but whatever. That's pretty much it. The backgrounds appear to be very simple in the Beta, and everything looks blue-ish for some reason, and I doubt that's fog because I've never heard of blue fog.

The F13 game just has so much more potential. A better team, better atmosphere, better characters (who don't need names since they're 80s movies stereotypes, like the edgy guy, the female heroine, etc), and of course, mothereffin' Jason Voorhees, instead of the generic slasher killer from Dead by Daylight or whatever intangible creature they talked about will be in the game. Not to mention the F13 game has Herry Manfredini, Kane Hodder, Tom Savini and Sean Cunningham, and not only do these 4 have a lot to do with the F13 franchise, but they, along with the rest of the F13 game team, are huge fans of the series.

The DBD team said they wanted to make this for the players, which is something that the F13 game team is doing aswell, only that the F13 game team is doing it for themselves aswell. I find that to be a lot more admirable, the F13 game isn't just some product. It's part of the F13 legacy and that makes it really valuable.

Meanwhile Dead by Daylight has no charm of its own, nothing new or original, compared to the F13 game which offers EVERYTHING that there should be in the perfect slasher-based game.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yeahhh DBD seems almost like a cheap ripoff.

I mean the guy there isn't totally the same but he's clearly somewhat modelled after Jason.

Could this be an elaborate scheme by the F13 team? Maybe they got people to make DBD so that F13 would overshadow it and get a lot more popularity, as well as feedback for potential mechanics.
It's odd how similar they are and how close together they were announced. Wonder what engines they both use.

The F13 game uses Unreal engine. DBD seems to be the same, but I'm not sure.

As for the killer, who I've heard is called "Hunter", he's just a generic slasher villain. He's bulky and tall, he's stealthy and strong, slow and heavy, and of course, he's got the mask. I wish they could do something new to the genre, but everything has pretty much been done already. Their only option is to grab the licenses from old slasher movies and make games out of them, which would be awesome, imagine a game about the Scream movie.

Horror games are pretty darn popular nowadays, even s***ty ones like Five Nights at Freddy's or Slender. There's been a revival in horror gaming since Amnesia: The Dark Descent came out(though Amnesia had a few noticeable problems, and the sequel only made them worse). And then we get things like Outlast and Until Dawn, which are brilliant games to an extent.

And then there's Friday the 13th: The Game, which couldn't be any more perfect. Well, it could, but I doubt any other actors want to return just to voice the characters and stuff. A shame Betsy Palmer died last year, I would've loved to hear her creepy voice in the game as Mrs Voorhees.
