SSJ2 angry Gohan vs. Ultra Perfect Cell; Gohan had not gotten injured protecting Vegeta

How would the fight between Gohan and Cell gone had he not had to jump in the way to protect Vegeta? I like to think Gohan would still have a field day, though Cell would have improved just enough to make it exciting, whereas he was almost effortlessly pummeling by Gohan before. But then again, Cell did seem pretty confident in facing Gohan again (right before Vegeta went awol on him for killing Trunks), so Cell might have actually given him a serious run for his money.
I'm getting very angry with you, and for me that is a very bad thing, so watch yourself.

I'm gonna go with Cell posing a difficult challenge for Gohan. His confidence would be severely misplaced if he didn't believe his power had increased up to match Gohan's after experiencing it firsthand. It would likely pan out similar to a hypothetical Vegeta vs 1st form Frieza, in my opinion. Cell's only chance for winning involves him using the Taiyoken and/or Instant Transmission in conjunction with a point blank powered up blast.

I think it would go the other way around. Remember, Gohan severely lost his confidence after Goku's death, just before the beam clash to the point he almost gave up. It's not until a quick pep-talk that he was ready to counterattack.

Cell would more than easily give Gohan the fight of his life. Gohan had to pretty much give everything he had to defeat Cell and there's even a point where he might have had to dig into more of his potential to do it. Gohan by his own admittance, underestimated Cell's power and thought he was going to put Cell through the wringer again.

Cell meanwhile, mostly just seems to proclaim that the fight isn't going to as well for Gohan as it did last time. He seems surprisingly subtle. But lo and behold, Cell fires one blast (one that wasn't even at Gohan) and he ends up breaking his arm, docking his ki to less than half and breaking his spirit. By all means Cell did as much, if not more damage to Gohan than Gohan actually did to him.

And it perfectly showed that at that point, Gohan, who could tank punches from Perfect Cell and casually chuck his own Kamehameha's back at him, was now facing an opponent who darn well nearly Saitamed him. Which again Cell never even meant to Gohan in the first place. He just wanted to get rid of Vegeta and Gohan happened to get in the way. I think he even just calls it a pleasant surprise.

Without rage boosts being factored in, I still have Cell winning this one. He's more than shown his credibility as a very real threat to Gohan power-wise and then he has all his skills, technique, Instaneous Movement, etc at hand. It's should definitely help give him the edge.

There is still a significant difference in their powers. It is obviously much closer but Gohan would still pull off a victory fairly easily. As long as Cell fights without involving any of his friends and Gohan gets the job done fast, which he should since he already made one mistake in not taking down Cell right away.
