The Gorilla at the Zoo Incident

The gorilla didn't want to do anything to the kid. The ape was actually trying to help him get up and run, plus protecting him from any dangers, unlike the parents.

That's the only problem here, the parents. Hopefully someone took the child away from them, otherwise the next time he falls into another animal enclosure, the lion surely won't try to help him. I mean come on, I know parents tend to be stupid and that some parents have done much worse than this, but the kid shouldn't stay with them, they've shown enough proof that they can't keep a child from doing something as dangerous as this.

The Gorilla was getting agitated by all the noise the people watching were making, right? It didn't seem like he wanted to harm the kid at first, and I don't think he wanted to harm him at all, but he was a 400+ pound Gorilla. Dragging the kid through water and putting him in a position where it'd be impossible for handlers to separate the two meant that the kid was in immediate danger. It's a situation that shouldn't have happened, and to be honest, I blame the mother almost entirely, but the Zoo made the appropriate decision in shooting the Gorilla.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

It's a child but I don't see why that's outright more important than a gorilla, there are less than 1000 of them aren't there?

It's not like they're panda's they're only in such a dire situation because of humans. If it was a choice between 100 humans and a gorilla I'd pick the gorilla to be quite honest.
Can see why they picked the gorilla though. I feel the zoo should have tried something else but waiting longer could have ended it way messier.

What should have happened is they should have got the stupid f***ing humans to leave and keep it quiet and then they probably could have retrieved the kid by distracting the gorilla somehow but everyone was left to make noise and confuse the gorilla.

Don't see why anyone blames the zoo. There's a railing, a ditch thing and a big bush the kid had to go over it's not like he just "fell" in, If you're taking your kids to a busy public place you damn well keep an eye on them.
Apparently the kid was shouting that he wanted to go in too so he had the intention already.

EDIT Off topic slightly but apparently Anonymous has "declared war" on the parents.
So y'know, absolutely nothing is going to come of that as usual

Why do people take that stuff seriously? As if anonymous is an actual organization.

Here's a quick guide to becoming an anonymous member:
1. Say you're anonymous.

Well if it works like that, that doesn't make anonymous any less worth paying attention to.

What will you do when you get old?

I just thought it was funny how all the black people were complaining about white privilige and how they killed the gorilla for the white kid life but if the kid was black they would have tranq'd it instead. Surprise! The kid was black.

The gorilla is not an endangered species, if there's even a few hundreds of them left (there are more) it's easy to breed them and one gorilla's life doesn't matter too much. In that regard you can't blame the zoo too much.
However, the parents should've paid more attention to their kid and should be fined or get a very stern lecture. Their kid being stupid and jumping down to the gorilla shouldn't be unpunished.

Seriously? What's the point of complaining about that?

How is less than a thousand not endangered? It's not that easy to get their population up, it's been a struggle for years. Their pregnancies last a while and infants take a long time to grow up, unlike say rabbits.
They're somewhat close to us in that regard.

Lions are considered vulnerable and there are around 30,000 of those. 1000 or so gorilla's is not much at all.

Yeah I seen people saying it was a racist thing like they'd have left a black kid to die or something, f***ing idiots. What does it even have to do with race? A magnificent creature was unfortunately slain becuase of human stupidity "But racism!"

But there are over 100,000 gorillas left in the world, Steve.

Unless you are talking about mountain gorillas in which case there are only about 880.

Harambe was a western lowland gorilla and critically endangered according to the IUCN
http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/9406/0
It is not raw population that determines being endangered, rather if it is sustainable. In the case of the gorillas, while there are a few around, the number drops massively each year and birth rates are in grand decrease.
