Surprise there isn't a thread on this. Pretty much a hot topic in the USA right now(Even though I don't know why... it's sad but this just seem trendy). https://www.google.com/amp/brobible.com/life/article/911-call-mom-harambe-gorilla-enclosure/amp/?client=ms-android-sprint-us# http://amp.www.complex.com/life/2016/06/anonymous-declared-war-gorilla-boy-mom http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/06/religious-loon-sin-cursed-gorilla-die-no-soul/amp/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/animalia/wp/2016/06/01/when-a-toddler-fell-into-a-zoo-enclosure-20-years-ago-he-was-saved-by-a-gorilla/ What y'all thoughts on the trendy topic. While it's nice to see people react to animals. Do people really care or are they're just speaking because everyone else is? |

Everyone was screwed one way or another. I don't lean either way in regards to the zoo's actions, both sides have good points. However, the parents that let their kid do something that stupid need a reality check hard. I see this kind of spoiled crap all the time, where they let kids throw trash or food into the exhibit and laugh off anyone who tells them otherwise. With any luck, the parents and kid learned their damn lesson. The zoo can't make the fence higher, or it'll compromise the viewing, so it's up to the people there not being absolute idiots. |

Sucks they killed the gorilla. It didn't know the kid would get hurt. It wasn't actually attacking him was it? Pretty traumatizing experience for the kid. Irresponsible parents That's just from what I know. Haven't read those links |

>retard mother >retard bystanders >disappointing move on the zoo's part (ever heard of tranquilizers?) >humans fail yet again Basically sums up my opinion on the issue. |

In the defense of the Zoo, tranqs take way too damn long and have a very real possibility of angering the gorilla. Angry Gorilla with a fragile child in its hand would've ended more along the lines of maulings in old Roman Coliseums. |

Just a sad story. Bad parents exist. Proof is given. Zoo didn't have any other choice and made the right decision. I'm all for animal rights and stuff, but when it's human vs animal and the human didn't do anything wrong then I'll pick human. (inb4 the human did do something wrong: it's a kid.) I'm biased that way. Call me a speciesist. Edited by Ginyu, Jun 4 2016, 08:34 AM.

I agree with Ginyu. Animal lives are important, but human lives are far more important especially young ones. The gorilla might been at first non-violent, but what if it brutally murders the boy one day ? Animal behavior is unpredictable. Not to mention the fact that the Zoo had no choice but to shoot it. They, however should have used tranquilizers. This case is a reason why they were invented. If you want to blame someone, blame the parents. |

No tranquilizers are there for different situations. It was already explained that the gorilla might not immediately go down, then get scared and trample the kid. |
