 I would love to see a dark saga with an evil Goku from the future. Not a clone or somebody being manipulated but an actually Goku. That'd make up for everything he's done in super because he realises his quest for power has become unhealthy. He disrespected a god further leading him to find challenge on Earth, he let planets full of people die for a challenge (and didn't wish them back) and he's proving more and more desperate to get stronger no matter the cost. I'd really love for Vegeta to be the one to lay down some home truths for him. Vege humiliated himself rather than aggravate Beerus and he wasn't as desperate to train for 3 years in the ROSAT as Goku was. I know I'm a Vegeta fanboy but having him come full circle and save the world from Goku would be awesome.

If not him then I'd want it to be Gohan. Definitely not Goku.

Oh and regarding Vegeta, don't worry it's pretty much confirmed that Vegeta will be the one to defeat Black Goku. I mean to be honest it doesn't require any kind of rocket science to figure/deduce that out. So no problem there for some cravings. Alright then, now you can go back to your mouth drooling cravings for all your cravings except of course for the dark/serious/hardcore saga one. Cheerios! <-

 Really? I think it's a given that Evil Goku's gonna be defeated by Goku. He's shown to be the strongest Z-fighter by far, and Vegeta just got absolutely tooled by the slime guy last episode. Vegeta's already been given his time to shine in Toriyama's eyes, and it would be a genuine surprise if Vegeta's the one who ends up beating EG.

Toriyama isn't the only writer involved with Super and he's done dark before. The android saga was pretty dark, the world Trunks came from was pretty dark, so bringing him back might take the series in a more bleak direction for a while. I'm not saying I only like stuff that's dark and gritty, I don't mind more light hearted affair (hence me being a fan of all Dragon Ball) I just think a serious villain and saga would be a change of direction for a while. Things aren't automatically good or 'clever' because they're dark and gritty, I mean just look at Man of Steel and BvS, they're dark, they're gritty but they're also pretty nonsensical and tbh don't contain much depth.

And thats the kicker here. I am pretty sure that is Toriyama's Ace Card. But, hey I could be wrong because Toriyama could fail to use one of his Aces ( yet again which isn't a suprise). And I am gonna stick my guns with that.

 The last time it was a good moment for Vegeta to be the hero, he got the Earth blown up and Goku ended up having to save the day. So no, I sincerely doubt Toriyama has something as revolutionary in mind as someone else being the hero (even though he did that back at the Cell saga).

Also I don't think quite as many people would be calling for a darker thing if it weren't for the fact that the previous three sagas were completely tensionless, to this day I have no idea what the stakes during U6 were. I mean what was really lost if Earth got moved to Champa's univrse? Pretty much nothing, the hero would have an excuse to train more so he can beat Hit, but is there anything else at stake? The closest thing we had was the possibility of Goku getting himself killed, of which were only informed as to the risk of ssjgssjkk after he pulled it off. The other two were remakes with endings all but set in stone.
Frankly I think the reason everyone's hoping for a more dramatic and dark arc is A: Because it would help deal with the fact that Goku is basically a more evil Boros (see BoG arc) and B: Because there is absolutely no fight in these arcs that have genuine tension to them. We know what happens in the first two arcs, and the only risks we're aware of in the third arc is that our heroes don't win. Not that they actually lose anything, they just don't win. Nothing else is brought up of importance, you could argue Goku would lose access to Whis but again, this isn't a stated factor or anything, the only risk is, Earth getting moved, and it's not like Champa is shown to be that much worse than Beerus, not until just before the Omni-king shows up and dissolves the tension anyway.

 I see all the potential this arc has being wasted. Goku won't learn what a jackass he's become. Vegeta won't be allowed to defeat Anti-Goku, Trunks won't get to do much, and Gohan's recent development isn't going to go anywhere.

Agreed. That's pretty much what's gonna happen if I lose the gamble. It's like Toriyama gets readily handed to him all the Ace Cards in the game but he just doesn't use them or doesn't use them at the right time. I guess, I can sympathize with him for it because he wants to do things for which he doesn't have the shinning hand. In a way he's just like Gohan. That is, born to do certain things but never really had that interest to those things.

That's definitely possible. But, I am not looking forward for that possibility. Lots of possibilities and lots of risks for each one of them. It's gonna be close. But, you have to take the risks in order to move forward and achieve your goals.

I'm honestly thinking that this is a different Trunks than the one in the Android/Cell Arc.
The whole Mai thing in the poster wouldn't make any sense for the Future Trunks we saw in DBZ. Her existence, especially in a body where her and Trunks are roughly the same age, is in a completely different reality than Future Trunks (from Cell Arc), and she was likely killed by 17 and 18 in Trunks's time.

The whole theory about Goku being resurrected for Boo doesn't make sense either because Boo likely didn't exist in Trunks's time. There's not enough people on Earth for a ressurrection, and Trunks himself likely wouldn't be strong enough to supply the ki needed since his main focus likely would've been rebuilding Earth and not training vigourously.
In addition to this, Goku's been dead too long by the time of Boo for Shenlong to resurrect him.

And to explain this theory that this is actually a different Future Trunks, we've seen other versions of Trunks being able to exist in different time tangents. It doesn't have to be the same one that we've seen.
There was a version of Trunks who was killed by Cell, after all. It was a different one from the one who dies against Cell at the Cell Games.

So when Toriyama states that we will see Future Trunks again, he doesn't say it's the same one that we saw in DBZ. They'd technically both be "Future Trunks", so he wouldn't actually be lying.


I agree with this, as everything would make sense (Goku being alive, Mai...) if it's not DBZ Mirai Trunks.
Of course, the sad part would be that this Trunks would be a completely different character compared to the one we used to know, but, let's be honest, I wouldn't like to see a magnificent character such as the original Mirai Trunks being treated like Gohan currently is.
