@That's actually in-character for Goku. If you look at the end of Z, Bulma complained that Goku hadn't visited her even once in (I believe) 5 years. Goku is just that way. He didn't have reason to contact the living during those 7 years because it was in the hands of Gohan, who he thought was still at the top of his game; it's only after witnessing Gohan's power firsthand that Goku realized he hadn't been keeping up, and that also proved Goku hadn't even been peaking in for some years. Agreed. @As for Kaio, you'd think if the characters had a way to communicate with the living and help them out, they'd take it rather than going straight to wherever it is dead heroes go. We're never given a prohibition for Kaio's communication. In your own words so it can go either way. Maybe he has prohibition maybe he doesn't @Really, Kaio's ability to communicate between realms is a plot device that backfired in this case. No not really. Since you are assuming Goku after dying from the virus went to King Kai's planet. It's possible that in this case he never got to retain his body due to natural death cause. |

Also if Demigra really is going to be incorporated into the series then He could have found Goku in Otherworld and took control of him. But I really hope they can come up with something more unique instead of taking villains from the video games. I really don't need to repeat Xenoverse over again. |

So, what did people want dark Goku to look like, since his design seems near universally reviled? I personally would have been okay with dropping the minimalist thing for a bit and just giving him sharp teeth and evil eyes or something, anything to give him more personality beyond a black jacket and earrings. Goku wouldn't need to go to Kaio's straight after dying. It took 6 months for the androids to show up after that. Once they showed up, that's when I would expect Goku to head to Kaio's to see what's going on (because it would make sense for Kaio to let him know his home planet is being ravaged). He'd want to do everything in his power to help, I'd like to think, even if it's simply giving advice here and there. |

Goku wears the same earrings as Demigra? Also wearing a black outfit that resembles Demigra. Coincidence? Or Toei's hint at Xenoverse? The interesting thing about the picture is Mai which leads me to believe this might be a re-harsh of the Cell arc with a little sprinkle of Xenoverse. But instead of F. Future that already came back in the Cell arc, this might be our Trunks in the future who's in a relationship (which BoG teased) with Mai coming back. I think the black Goku is actually our Goku from the future. |

Go all out, give Black Goku vampire-esque features or something. Make him look more beastly, they're already stretching the idea that Evil Goku can acquire power the way he did if he was evil. So why not make him a tad more primal looking? Oh and for f***s sake can they make Evil Goku sound like an actual grown-up? |

They'd have to do some great explaining for our Goku turning to the dark side, unless it's simply him being possessed, which is pretty disappointing IMO. I don't want possession. I want a legitimate coherent decision by Goku to be evil so that it can lead to character development. Simply possession doesn't yield the same potential for that. |

You guys need to lighten up. They didn't even reveal that much. Nothing about the story. Just a little bit of black goku's design. It's like you're going out your way to hate on it. You guys are always so negative no matter what. You're way too quick to judge Imo it looks cool. Dark tone and evil goku from the bit we saw looks...evil and badass Aren't you curious to see how this all comes about? This is pretty crazy when you think about it. No I'm not curious, and no I don't feel I'm being overly critical whatsoever. In fact, based on what's been given and what I've seen from the show, what I'm doing is actually pretty damn reasonable. The best episodes of this dragonball show is slice of life or ultimately pointless fights that lead to ultimately pointless conclusions to ultimately pointless story arcs that have been used to do nothing more than act as power porn for Goku and show how great he is compared to everyone else. I would actually say you're being way too goddamn optimistic for a show that at best has the same amount of good episodes as I do fingers on my hand, minus the thumb of course. |

I will say this arc probably has the most potential out of anything I've seen from DBS yet, especially if they take this time to take a more critical look at Goku, perhaps have him start thinking about his love of fighting and how that has and can put people in danger, and if taken too far, turn into a corrupting influence if it's not tempered. The outfit might be fine, but I can't help but feel like this is being done to save on animation and key frames rather than say as a dark reflection kind of thing. That's what I'm hoping is gonna happen, a look into a very frightening and real possibility that Goku could become if he lets his love of fighting get the better of him, didn't Toriyama even describe that aspect of him rather negatively? If it's not possession, or someone who looks like him, or some far off traumatic event that's unlikely to occur happens to him, or something else that means that this Goku is very different from the one we know, if we go with none of them and simply have this as an evolution (perhaps spurred on by certain events but it mostly being his growth into something darker and twisted) of who he's becoming right now, and then address all that this might become my favorite arc of Super, and in such a way I can say that without an * by it's name saying "because it's not as bad as the rest, not because it's good." However, this series gave us the BoG Beerus=Freeza/Kid Buu arc, the FnF arc no one wants to acknowledge (and for good reason), and U6 arc which turned out to be a glorified prologue for the multiverse tournament. I'd rather not get my hopes up and then feel betrayed or let down if/when DBS doesn't live up to those expectations. Edited by Tinny, Jun 3 2016, 04:02 AM.

If Toei/Toriyama actually has the balls to make Goku complex and actual dwell into him as a character and not the near blatant Marty Stu he's become and how much the world can't exist without him, I'll take back every negative thing I've ever said about Super and tell everyone that Dragon Ball Super is the greatest thing ever and that all animes including Clanad, Fate/Zero and even the original DBZ are pure s*** compared to it. |

I wouldn't do quite the last part, but if they do have the balls to analyze Goku like I'm vaguely hoping they do and have him develop as a character, then it'll go a good long way towards recovering my goodwill. Rather than my current state where I think this is gonna be an excuse to have a Goku vs Goku fight where they can save on animation costs by having them do the exact same thing, maybe flipped over and maybe recolored. Huh, never really crossed my mind that Toriyama could do something like that, that would actually be pretty great. But again, my expectations for this are literally bottom of the trash can. Anything deep like that is kind of above Toriyama's pay grade at this point. I... can't actually recall Toriyama doing anything that grand besides a vague statement here and there of Boo's inner side and literally fighting the other half. |
