Maybe for it's time, but it's just really beginning to show it's age. Not because of graphics, but other hardware limitations: size, AI, simplicity, etc.

Modern RPG's blow it out of the water when you remove nostalgia and bias.

But is its simplicity neccessarily a flaw or make it not as good as other games?

And I know it's graphics are dated but graphics doesn't make a game. It's like saying "halo has better graphics than COD" so cod is flawed. And the 3ds version for nearly a perfect score on a bunch of reviews. Only problem was playing it on the 3ds that people didn't like. Literally all the game needs is updated graphics that are...decent and critics would call it a perfect game

I can't think a single legit flaw in the game

When I say simplicity, I mean it's very barebones. That isn't a bad thing in and of itself, so long as you have other features to back it up. This game is strictly single player, and doesn't have many secrets or other game modes to extend the fun.

I already mentioned the graphics are the least of my concern as far as hardware limitations.

I've played a bit, and while I say Zelda is not my cup of tea, I can definitely see why it's labelled as a masterpiece.

But like Darkness said, It's beginning to show it's age. However, it did revolutionize the gaming industry.

The title masterpiece is earned and never lost. A masterpiece is a game that did a lot for the franchise (in this case Zelda) and the game industry. Once a masterpiece, always a masterpiece regardless of if the game has held up through time or not.

I'd have to agree that the title "Masterpiece" would pretty much have to be a contextual thing for its time (or as Emmeth said, once a masterpiece, always a masterpiece". There's plenty of old movies that are regarded as masterpieces despite the fact if you compared them to todays standards, they're obviously really low quality.

I actually only completed OoT for the first time with the 3DS Remake, and it certainly held up well there though.

People are still playing it and talking about it to this day, that should tell you something.

Graphics and gameplay wise I can see why people think it's "overrated" because yeah it didn't age as well as most other Zelda games but story wise it's still one of the best out there and IMO it's one of the Top 3 Zelda games alongside ALTTP and TWW,
