There are a few things on the USA that I think could be changed for the better. Lets start with: Education. Too much emphasis on grades instead of actual learning and research skills. Classrooms are too big. You have the best physical education but there's not enough taught about healthy diets. Teachers aren't paid enough Not enough support for students with learning or behavioural disorders At college you should only need to study one subject. Elections There needs to be a sensible cap on election spending. The campaigns should be shorter. Abolish fixed terms. Abolish the electoral college. Standardise voting practises Healthcare Standardise the cost of healthcare. Operations and medicine should be the same price everywhere. More general practitioners and local clinics. Join the health service, psychiatry and social care under one umbrella. Military Seriously cut down on the numbers. There's no need for an armed forces of this size or the money being spent on it. Civil Increase national speed limit to 70mph Start a campaign to phase out imperial measurements. Stricter regulations on food manufacturing. More rules against monopolies Subsidies and tax breaks for small and new businesses Clamp down on people inventing fake charities to avoid paying taxes |

My thoughts on some of your points:
I disagree. I think gen ed classes are a great thing. Students may not enjoy them, but they're helpful. For example, a person who doesn't take something like comp 1 isn't going to be as successful in whatever workplace they enter into because writing is a basic, necessary skill. Gen ed classes also give students who aren't sure what they would like to major in an opportunity to directly experience different fields.
What exactly do you mean by this? |

By the time you get to college, your writing should already be of an acceptable standard to an employer unless of course you are doing something vocational. But even then you should ideally still have basic English and maths. Extra courses on top of your degree only serve you hamper your education. Imagine how much extra work and learning could be done if you didn't need to divide up your studies? This is why UK students are almost always ahead of US students when it comes to their equivalent degrees. Isn't your speed limit capped at 55 or 60? I'm pretty sure you all drive quite slow compared to us. |

70 mph seems a bit too much, depending on which road we're talking about. |

I can agree with that to an extent, but high school education in America sucks as well, so comp 1 and 2 are basically necessities at this point. I like the idea of trying out different degree paths before deciding though. And no, that's not the case. It can go up to 75 or 80 on certain highways. |

No, there's places where the speed limit is 80. 85 is the highest although there's some stretches of road that you can get away with going 100+ and not get caught. Anyway I'm sure by now you all know I'd eliminate all of the gun laws that restrict access to guns by normal, law abiding citizens in good mental health. I'd also eliminate the democrats and republicans, change the way the voting system works for presidential elections so that the votes of the individual actually matter and that it's not all based off of a thousand or so individuals already on the government payroll. I'd also make hate speech protected speech. Edited by Helvius Pertinax Augustus, May 27 2016, 03:17 PM.

To travel back in time and prevent the revolution would be cool. Then the US could be more like Canada or Australia. |

I'd eliminate the electoral collage, eliminate PACs and SuperPACs, tighten electoral finance laws a hell of a lot more, so the maximum donation one person can give can only be say $2,000, all electorates are decided by independent commissions to stop gerrymandering, standardise the election process across all States, no more electing judges. That last one really grinds my gears, the point of the judiciary is to be impartial, being scrutinised by the public (the majority of which know little about how the court process works in the first place) flies in the face of that. |

I would eliminate Christianity as the national religion and the Republican party. I know that Christianity isn't actually the national religion, but it seems as if the majority of our population believes it is, and the majority actually believe that we were founded on it. |

Why just the Republican party? The Democrats are just as bad, if not worse. |

Ideally, I'd eliminate both parties, but that was just a jab at Republicans. I really can't stand that party whatsoever, for a variety of reasons. |

I'd eliminate sheriff departments entirely. No point when the police and state troopers are around. They're wastes of money and resources. I'd have a serious overhaul of insurance companies. The bias toward one group or another is hilariously devoid of any ethical reasoning, it's just numbers with no context. Teachers would get paid a lot more. Class sizes would be cut in half. The cost of cars would be lowered or capped. It's getting ridiculous. Law enforcement agencies and schools would receive bigger budgets rather than having to cut corners every renewal. Fast food restaurants would be cut down. Man, so many things would have to be changed in this country... |

Call me paranoid, but I somehow get the feeling that if I advocated for eliminating any other religion or sub-culture, you would be upset. |
