How far into Z does he get, given the amount of training he must've done during GT?

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

He doesn't get past 3rd Form Freeza. By the end of GT he's well over 100 years old and likely dead. But I'm assuming you mean before the time skip, which would make him 57 years old. He's way past his prime, and should be about the same strength all throughout GT in my opinion.

Tien is an enigmatic character. His iconic Tri Beam scenes (against Semi Perfect Cell & Gotenks-Boo) are reason why I consider him superior to human fighters like Krillin & Yamucha

I always felt Tien stopped training by Cell Games as he refused using ROSAT. But Boo Arc showed he kept training with Chiaotzu

In GT, assuming he kept training without resorting to cliched potential/anger aspects (UNLIKE Gohan) I think he tops at Super Perfect Cell/SSJ2 Goku/Majin Vegeta

His high amp Tri Beam blast should push it close to Fat Boo. Dats about it. And I'm being generous.

My 2 cents

I kind of have him stronger than 3rd Form Frieza by the time the android arc begins.

I'd say he'd beat Kaioken x10 Goku(vs Frieza) but that's it.

Well Roshi was still able to improve his strength between the Fortuneteller Baba and 22nd tournament arcs in spite of his advanced age. It's doubtful that he was still in peak condition compared with his younger self, however. Catching Karin, which may have put him on the same level as Goku during the late RRA arc, and battling against an army of King Piccolo's spawn who were presumably equal to Drum are the best historical feats we've heard come from Roshi. His retirement followed sometime afterwards until Goku arrived. So it's likely he was just regaining some of what he had lost over the years prior to the 22nd tournament.

Now by DB standards, 57 years old isn't too bad. Master Mutaito appeared fairly aged himself and he was considered to be the strongest human in the world back during King Piccolo's first reign of terror. The martial artists of that universe seem to live for over a century at least if the information guides are any indication. Which means that while Tien may not be exactly at his prime where rapid gains in power are frequent, he could still plausibly increase his strength to higher levels, albeit at slower rates - that said, I don't believe he has what it takes to bring down a Super Saiyan.

WTF? This frankly shocked the hell outta me

Was it stated in GT Perfect Files or anything that Yamcha surpassed Perfect Cell? If yes, pls post me the link. Curious to know just how did he surpassed considering Yamcha retired by the time Boo Arc started rolling

On topic, I dont think age matters. Roshi was like over 300+ years, drank Longevity Water & participated in Tenkaichi Budoukai. Hell, even defeated his own pupils.

At 22nd TB, gave Tien (who was arguably the most skilled, creative & dangerous TB participant at that time) a tough fight

Dafuq? 300 year old jiji could be so badass

Tien could still be a fighter at his age, considering how his "3rd Eye" clan/race must've bestowed him some specialities. Not sure 100%. But hey, GT' final episode showed how Tien was still training somewhere with Chiaozu.

So its more or less implied Tien's addiction for training is something more of an eternal love story

Im sure he'd acheive much higher power than what most people creditted him

By EoGT he would still lose to 100% Frieza after a tough fight, but he could possibly win thanks to the kikoho. If we consider anime fillers, he dodged a blast from Buutenks and survived a kick of his, so after 20 years of training he's likely stronger than Cell, maybe close to Good Buu

Are you referring to filler anime in DBZ?
