Who I think should help Akira Toriyama write stories for DB super

I think that the people who made battles/scenes for Dragon Ball Heroes (Hoshi) should join Akira Toriyama to help him write stories and create characters. It's the same people who created a SSJ3 Future Trunks, SSJ4 Gohan, SSJ4 Broly, revived Super Vegito, and made Son Goku as one of the main characters with Goku. Those people got some GREAT ideas going on in their heads.

The problem isn't that Toriyama needs ideas, it's that he and/or Toei Animation needs to implement those ideas correctly. Toriyama by his own admittance, has stated he doesn't care about consistency, Toei Animation has point blank shown they don't care about it either. What you get is a bunch of stuff throw at the screen for the sake of "coolness" but without the substance or flavor.

You can chuck universe busting shockwaves at the screen all day long and it's still going to stuck because there's no substance to the scene. There's no reasoning for it other than the sake of trying to look cool and not being able to explain it later. I still remember when even now, Old Kaioshin's reason for why Beerus and Goku weren't blowing up the universe...

Cause it was real fight.

This is the same reason why I hate Dark Walter from Hellsing. I don't care how cool you want to make him, or how badass he is. Kouta Hirano took a character, decided with absolutely no evidence before or after, to make him evil, turn him into a Nazi, act like he was always a Nazi and then send him off to fight where he establishes nothing. Especially when not a few pages before, we had the emotional climax between Alucard and Anderson.

You need substance, you need to sprinkle some reasoning and flavor on your food.

He has plenty of help writing Super for him. I think its about 16 different writers so far iirc and then he's got Toyotaro.

But I think that's the problem. Too much outside help. Toriyama just doesn't wanna work on this thing more than he has to it seems

The mangaka for DBS, Toriyama reviews and gives him the ok while Toyotaro actually writes and draws it.

Just ask him to read his very own goddamn manga & use them as guideline for Super. Case closed

Isnt Hoshi doing the same thing?

Most of it (barring a few what-if scenarios which were improvised version of manga) jas strong resemblance to Toriyama's manga & it looks great thx to updated animation/artistry & music

If anything, I'd say just let Super RIP. Its got nothing working in its favor (coherent plot, heartwarming/epic moments, great fights, funny jokes).

Mago seems to be right on this one. AT doesn't seem as invested in this as he could've been. It's like he's thinking it's an easy way to make money... And he's right.

As I mentioned, a dragon ball heroes or GT series would've been the perfect sequel to dragon ball z. It was just poorly executed.

Akira Toriyama is just looking for ways to make money without all of the trouble of writing and whatnot, it sucks but it's true.

I have never read a fan manga or seen a fan film that replicates Toriyama's storytelling style, or the fight sequencing, and Goku is poorly written and acted out in every single fan version.
The fan series and fan versions simply don't understand his character, even Funimation doesn't get him either.

Asking any fan to "help" out would turn it into GT 2.0
Even Super is guilty of falling under this umbrella given that Toriyama isn't actually the one writing it; although I will admit that it at least does do his earlier manga style a bit of justice.

akira toriyama is NOT in charge of DBS. he isnt one of its writers, at least not a main one nor take major part in the design team.

toriyama had ALOT of influence during the time of DBZ where he designed and wrote most of the stories and lines.
DBS is a different story. toriyama gives guidelines and ideas, maybe a design here and there. sometimes the writers listen to him but mostly they dont. but at the end of the day, he doesnt have any real power over the animation.

the manga, as far as i know, toriyama recruited another writer because he is old, lazy and, in his words, "dont want to write violence and evil character anymore".
in the manga's case, toriyama can be considered a head-writer and [possibly] owner.

I don't know about that, Toriyama has good ideas and all but the way they are shown just lowers the potential of the series. I mean SSJ4 Gohan and all that is cool but Toei must execute them well first to be cool and not just throw them out there for mindless enjoyment, like fanfiction a for example.
