I'm going to admit I did a double take at first thinking it said only 72.

That said, I will admit I was beginning to wonder if it was gonna get past GT in episode count or not. Hard to read anything into this besides it's gonna have 72 episodes though, I suppose it means that the Black Goku arc has about 28 episodes to itself. Interesting, I suppose that's enough time, but I can't help but feel the fights might end up not lasting as long because of that if we actually look at the tournament in any detail beyond just Goku and friend's fights.

Yeah, if they wanna fit in Future Trunks, Black Goku and the Universal Tournament in any meaningful way, they're gonna go waaaaaa~aaaay past the Episode 72 mark. I agree with Tinny, it's probably just going up to the Black Goku arc's end, with the tournament not being planned out yet.

I honestly expect Super to last quite a while. It's doing pretty well in the ratings right now.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Considering Dragon Ball is marketed primarily toward kids, I'm really not all that surprised it's doing well. Even disregarding that, I find a lot of people generally agree that the Universe 6 arc was entertaining, and that the premise for the next arc is genuinely intriguing, even if the whole Goku-Black thing sounds dumb.

Even if the ratings were poor in Japan for Super(which they aren't from what I've heard). Super will go past the 72 Episode mark due to Dragon Ball's popularity in overseas markets. Dragon Ball is huge is pretty much every major region outside of Japan, and if Kai managed to do well despite beings a remastered DBZ, I imagine a brand new series will be a major blockbuster for the markets and channels that would carry Super.

Not everyone watches fansubs on the internet. There are tons of Dragon Ball fans who have to see Super, and networks(like Cartoon Network) who would be foaming at the mouth to get the rights to Super.

I think they are waiting to reach the 75 or 100 Episode count before they roll out Super in other parts of the world.

Super is not going anywhere. Dragon Ball is still a major money-maker in many parts of the world.

I would like even more episodes but 72 are a good start, Super might not be that good now but I have hopes that the Evil Goku arc is gonna be really good and I still hope.
