Kid Vegeta vs Bardock

Crazy Awesome Legend

Kid Vegeta was meant to have surpassed his father who was around 10,000 power level right? So Can he also defeat Bardock who seemed to be encroaching on that level? Or is Bardock too experienced and crafty for him? After all, sometimes there's more to winning fights than just power levels.

Where was it said Kid Vegeta passed his father? As far as I'm concerned he's much weaker than King Vegeta therefore Bardock stomps.

Vegeta said it when Freeza boasted about beating the king without even transforming.

Bardock wins this due to experience as far as I'm concerned.

I think the difference is big enough for Vegeta to still win. Bardock doesn't have all that Ki-amplification either, so that's also something he can't be making of use in the fight.

After doing a bit more thinking, I change my answer to Vegeta. His power advantage is too overwhelming IMO.

King Vegeta's power level is unknown. The dub claims Bardock is nearing King Vegeta, tho, so I guess that's where this misconception comes from. Regarding Vegeta's battle power as a child, Vegeta did state he surpassed his father as a child:
Strength Checker

Chapter: 296 (DBZ 102), P2.2-3, P3.1
Context: still talking about Freeza’s transformations
Vegeta: “Don’t be scared, he’s bluffing…he won’t change that much.”
Freeza: “Oh, is that right? Look vee—eery closely. This isn’t something you get to see very often. Even when I attacked Planet Vegeta, where the Saiyans lived, and fought with the king, I was able to win without any need to transform whatsoever…Vegeta…your father wasn’t anything special.”
Vegeta: “Chih…! Don’t feel too good about yourself over that…I already surpassed the king’s power back when I was a kid…!”

And I imagine King Vegeta is stronger than Bardock, so Kid Vegeta would probably win, however, Bardock's experience may tip the scales in his favor.

It was said in the original Japanese text as well.

I wasn't disputing the 10,000 reading. I was disputing the idea that Bardock was nearing King Vegeta.

I could've sworn that was the next thing the doctors say after the 10,000 reading even in the original.

I mean, I can check. I own the Bardock special.
EDIT: Yeah, no mention of Bardock nearing King Vegeta.

Damn you! Then King Vegeta really could be anywhere from 10,000 to 18,000. I like to put him at 12,000 personally, because then it at least allows Vegeta some growth from his years as a kid to when we first see him on Earth. If he was at 15,000 or so and only went up to 18,000, that'd kind of be pathetic IMO.

To be fair, Vegeta didn't train back then, and he presumably didn't lose a fight very often, so Zenkais were probably very very rare in his case.

Yeah, I mean 20+ years of fighting only to get a minuscule boost in power seems ridiculous.

I have Vegeta when he was a kid around 12,000.
His father would be 11,000 and Bardock would be 9,500 to 10,000.

I'm assuming this is the TV special incarnation of Burdock, in which case, he still loses. Manga Burdock would go down even easier.
