It's not that the Legendary Super Saiyan from itself is especially powerful, it's just that Broly in M10 was incredibly strong. His regular SSJ state was about the same as his LSSJ form in M8, so it's well above MSSJ Goku and approaching, if not surpassing, Perfect Cell's power.

Gohan still had to resort to a last maneuver when he exhausted all other options and would have died to had Krillin not saved him. The fact that Gohan went that far basically indicated that Gohan couldn't have beaten Broly on his own. A kamehameha to the face, anything would have been futile and he so he resorted to one last option. And then of course you have Broly quite casually fending off a triple SSJ Kamehameha and require no less than an SSJ2+SSJ+SSJ Kamehameha blast and more than like a Double SSJ2+SSJ Blast to take him out. Many images involving that definitely seems to indicate that Goku is a SSj2 and he definitely appears as an SSJ2 in a lot of visual materials involving the scene. It doesn't help that Movie 10 Gohan is someone who hasn't slacked off in his training and isn't the weak, unskilled person he is in the Boo Arc.

He's a Gohan that has trained, kept in touch and isn't lacking in skill and power to where he was in the Boo Arc. Where exactly that puts him is up to you, but there's more than enough reason to put him above his Boo Arc self. There's also more than plenty points to put Goku as an SSj2 during the final clash once they release their power. SSj2 Goku was already a thing by the time of Movie 10's release. Considering Goku was first noted to have the SSJ2 transformation during his battle with Yakon. Not to mention the multitude of images involving Goku and the movie. I don't think there would be a major difference in strength between a Legendary Super Saiyan Gohan and a Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. Gohan still wins.
