Suggest a Laptop

I'm going to buy a laptop later today or tomorrow, and I cant spend more than $900. I need something that can run games, but nothing fancy. I won't be playing any AAA titles or anything too graphically demanding. I'd also like for it to be good for editing on Sony Vegas. I just need a good all-around machine for light gaming, writing, and editing.

Reddit recommended this:
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i7559-763BLK-Full-HD-GeForce/dp/B015PYYDMQ

I'm also open to a good desktop in that price range.

Oh my God you guys suck.
Thanks.

Tbh, the title is a bit misleading. Should've been "suggest a laptop".

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

I know. I noticed that right after I posted it, but there was nothing I could do to change it at that point.

No

have you got it yet????

none of the tech buffs are here so i dont want to give bad advice lol, but i'll just be going by experience and what my tech buff friends have told me.

in general, you'll be able to get more from a pc than a laptop for the same price since mobile parts arent as powerful as their pc counterparts, so take that into consideration. also idk if it matters as much with lower budgets, but i would look for a place where you can customise your laptop, as in mix and match parts, instead of going for a prebuilt one.

idk though the rule i go by is buy it cheap, by it twice. like unless you really need it, i would save up in order to get something better. you'll get more out of it for the 5 or so years it'll last and wouldnt need replacing as soon.

I'm not buying it myself. My grandpa is buying it for me as a gift, so the price isn't really a huge factor. I don't want to spend over $900 thought because I don't want to feel guilty. lol

I'm going to build a PC later. I just need a new laptop for now.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Honestly OFG, you're gonna be a lot better off if you just do your own independent research. It's what I had to do when I built my computer and customized my own laptop. This is a rather large purchase, at least to me, and it should be up to your discretion and not somebody else's, which is why I didn't post in this topic when you first made it. It's easy to educate yourself on how to build your laptop to fit your individual needs. If you have somebody else do it for you, the chance of you not being satisfied with it is going to be significantly higher. Especially when you consider that you're spending $900 on it, so I'm sorry, no suggestions other than to DIY. I don't know all the personal details of your life so, like if somebody asked me where to go out to eat and I had never met them before, I wouldn't know what to say. Especially if it's a gift. Just my .02.

I won't be building the laptop myself. I'll build a desktop later on, but like I said, my grandpa is wanting to buy me a laptop as a gift. I just wanted recommendations on pre-built laptops. I won't be using it for much other than the occasional game, possibly editing, and my usual writing/browsing the internet.

The laptop you were given on Reddit is a pretty good choice too, most laptops around the $900 to $1000 range will carry the same 960M GPU but I did find this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834319910&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-LogicalIncrements.com%20Inc-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=5961731&SID=0

It bests the Dell that Reddit found (CPU wise) as it's CPU is an i7-6700HQ vs the i5-6300HQ (2.6ghz vs 2.3ghz)
GPU wise it's the same. However it also has the same 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM.

It's $1079 USD on Newegg right now but with the promo code PAXNBPROMO, you can get $100 USD off. So a pretty good deal.
