How do you feel about the dead?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Do you feel as though the dead deserve not to be disturbed in that nobody should ever build over graves/move them or do you think it doesn't really matter?

Do graveyards make you feel "odd" at all? In a superstitious fashion.

I don't think one should worry about disturbing the dead, as it doesn't mean a thing, but, selfishly, I'd prefer that their space was preserved for as long as it can be.

I don't find graveyards to be odd, either, but blissful.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Dead people are dead. The only important thing about someone when they've died is that their memory live on in as many family members and friends as possible. The body means nothing to me. I'm pro-organ donation (I think that people should have to opt out of it, rather than in). I couldn't care less if all bodies were cremated in order to save the space taken up by graveyards. I'd be all for dead bodies being used to create energy if possible.

The only reason graveyards make me feel odd is because I know that thousands of dead bodies are under my feet in various stages of decay (although I guess that's probably true of many non-graveyard places). Not in a superstitious way though, like "they know I'm here" or "there are spirits here" etc.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

What will you do when you get old?

It honestly depends on how old the cemetery is, the activity level, and when the last body was buried. If the cemetery has been forgotten and not maintained like many are around the world then the remains if there are any left should be moved or cremated. If the cemetery is still being maintained and families and friends are still visiting and maintaining the grave plots and headstones, then leave them be as a sign of respect for the dead.

Graveyards don't make me feel odd. I used to cut through a cemetery after school as a shortcut, but out of respect for the dead and their families I'd never walk on any of the plots or deface the headstones. I wouldn't want someone to do that to my family members, although I don't care if they do it to my stuff.

I respect their memories if they've achieved something or earned my respect but their physical bodies have no meaning to me. It's just rotting meat as far as I'm concerned. I don't object to graveyards since they give families a place to remember their loved ones. Perhaps they shouldn't actually bury corpses in them any more however. It's not really needed.

My Dear Melancholy,

I think it's in our instinct to bury the dead. Homo naledi our ancestors before we was modern humans buried their dead too.

Wonder what evolutionary purpose it serve

My Dear Melancholy,

Yeah but I think the article I read on it said it was only "blood" or hand chosen which body got buried.

I believe they assumed a man buried his family cuz a lady and kids were found buried
