Should we have a maximum wage?

Should we have a maximum wage?

I don't believe we should have a maximum wage. It's easy to complain when corporate executives and bankers are giving themselves enormous bonuses but considering how I also want to be very wealthy, then it would be hypocritical for me to be against this.

Having said that, maybe at least the idea of awarding themselves large sums of money should be eliminated?

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I'm not sure about a maximum exactly but the balance is way off with what people do versus what they earn.

Like you can be some low level worker who slaves away 5 days a week and you get minumum wage and then there's higher ups who get paid like a thousand times more than you when all they do is talk on the phone and go to meetings and spend the rest of their time on their private yacht watching strippers parade around. Oversimplifying and exaggerating of course but not entirely untrue.

It's pretty stupid.

Imagine a world where truly hard working jobs paid well and then easier jobs paid less?
So if you had the necessary skills you could be a high ranking person in a company and your job would be extremely easy, lots of free time, decent money.
But if you were an extremely hard working person who didn't get much free time and whatnot you got way better pay for your contribution because it's really just the low level workers who make companies run.

That strikes me as a more logical balance, you can work your a*** off for years and then you rank up and get to rest, start a family and all that.
Instead of working your a*** off and then getting paid even more to sit around an office.

Of course it'd be pretty much impossible to change our world to that now.

You're on to something. The communists got it wrong when they wanted everyone to be paid equally. Of course we shouldn't be paid equally. As if I deserve more than a top medical surgeon for putting letters through a machine once a week. What they should have gone for instead was similar to what you suggested. Is your job objectively challenging? What skills does it involve? How important is it to society as a whole? The varying degrees of these questions should dictate pay scale more than they do now. Because obviously doctors and other skilled professionals do get paid well compared to a postman. But we've got this problem where the balance isn't right in many areas such as banking. That's why we even have this maximum wage debate happening.

I can see the arguments for it because of that issue. The answer is not a maximum wage. We don't want to discourage enterprise by limiting the financial incentives this way. The answer is a rebalancing of the system. It's not that extreme, you just need to limit what certain occupations can earn rather than every single one.

I don't really know what you meant by maximum wage, the way i interpret that is if you're asking if they should be a cap off for a certain job skill?

I don't know, but i do believe different sectors should be paid according to their skill sets. Doctors i.e Orthopedist should be paid more than Dermatologist (on average salary off course). And Execs should have a limit based on their performance. If they are under performing then they shouldn't get bonuses and christmas gifts to Fiji.

Well I don't blame you for wondering pelador. There's wealthy...and then there's "what the hell are you going to do with all that money?!" wealthy

Like... Seriously... Think about certain celebrities... Do they really deserve that much money?
