Dark Souls III is fantastic but my CPU temp hovers around 65C when playing and with my fans maxed. Not the worst in the world but this is on lowest settings, windowed and with no side panel on my PC. Short of investing in a new heat sink, is there much else I can do to make it cooler?

What is the temp when at idle ? When you first installed your cpu, did you put the thermal paste? Are you using the stock cpu cooler? |

I am using the stock cooler. It's at 40 when idle. It also cools really quickly. I used paste. The game runs smooth as silk and it never goes above 65 but I don't like that my fan is maxed all the time. It's not healthy. |

So, did you find a way? |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

Not yet since I haven't played since Friday but I'm wondering if lowering the resolution might help. |

Yup, lowering the screen resolution and definitely lowering the Graphics level will also help you in lowering the heat. But, if you do play continuously for more than an hour then it's gonna eventually start to heat up no matter how low your screen resolution or graphics is set. You should not play games continuously for more than an hour or two. Try to break up the total hours into smaller discrete hours with a decent gap between them.
