When you were at school, did you ever know anyone who always told unbelievable lies?

One time he told us that he could get to Disney land through his attic.
Another time he told us his step dad owned a machine gun.
To be fair, I was his only real friend.

I never experienced this, and if I did I forgot.

Why is owning a machine gun an unvelievable lie? Seems more like pointless bragging to act tough if anything.

Because we live in England and his stepdad worked in a chewing gum factory. People don't own machine guns here. And yes that's exactly what he was doing because he had very low self esteem.

He reckoned he completed Pacman too.

Even here in America machine guns are incredibly hard to get both legally and illegally, unless you steal them from the government, which, good luck doing that. I can't imagine that if he did own one in England, that his father would just be so casual enough to tell a young boy trying to impress people about it.

There's also the technicality that all firearms are technically machines, so they are all machine guns but that's generally not a widely accepted view.

Edit: Anyway yeah, I knew this guy in high school who would go around telling people he owned multiple Ferraris and that his parents were so rich that they have like 10 houses and gave one to him. Of course myself and a few other people followed him home one day and he lived in an apartment. Wasn't a bad apartment, but there were no Ferraris parked in any parking spots.
