How much healthier is sweet tea compared to soda? How beneficial is it to replace soda with tea? |

I would hardly call it healthier. It's typically riddled with sugars and additives, unless homemade. Still quite unhealthy. |

Soda is good for you. It's good for the soul Lol but seriously it's poison in a can. Anything is better for you than soda f***. Last night you made me crave pizza now you're making me crave soda. Nothing beats Coke and pizza Edited by Ssj3vegito96, Apr 9 2016, 06:10 AM.

Are we talking southern sweet tea or what? Because that s*** will give u diabetes like nothing else but I guess if u don't add southern levels of sugar then it's probably still unhealthy but better than soda |

@Richard: there's water in tea, lol. You can still get your daily recommended intake of water from tea, albeit it will take you longer and also give you caffeine. @OP: Tea can be very healthy for you. I would recommend unsweet iced tea or hot teas, though. Different types of teas can give you different types of vitamins and health benefits. I only ever drink tea (unsweet iced tea or hot tea) and water, and it works wonders. Soda is extremely unhealthy in comparison. Not only are there sugars, but it's basically like pouring tasty acid down your throat. Now that I've been off soda for years, I can really taste the acid and carbonation, and I can't drink it even if I wanted to. |

Tea's are classified into 2 types 1. White tea: basically green tea, which is high antioxidant & fights off free radicals. In short, prevents cancer & has other traditional Chinese herbal medicinal values. 2. Black tea. Also has nutritional value to the body, but adulterations sich as addition of condensed milk, caster sugar etc could shoot up the calorific & GI value. High GI (glycemic index) value foods/drinks spikes your blood sugat level, which might give you temporary boost. But it also drops/crashes your blood sugar within hours, that leaves your body fatigue & hungry for more. In short, shoots up your craving & distrupts your diet/meal plan Soda is another beast. Cola, Pepsi, 7 Up has high content of caffeine, far beyond maximum recommended value. Forgey about its side-effects as migraine, insomnia, urge to pee & stuff Prolonged drinking of soda could drain your vitamins/minerals in your body as Calxium, Sodium & Potassium. These are vital elements needes for blood & water balance in human body. Studies show just 1 hour after drinking Coca Cola would result in dumping of all theze minerals & vitamins which actually result in osteoporosis, arthritis, rheumatoids, thrombokinase etc Not even accounting monstrous amount of HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) which is No 1 killer in the world. In short, both are bad. Stick to green tea. |

You do realize that you can have black tea without anything else, right? And that you can add all that s*** to green tea? Also I'd like to know how high fructose corn syrup is the #1 killer You might want to check how much caffeine is in coke, Pepsi, etc compared to how much is in coffee and tea, lol Edited by peep, Apr 9 2016, 06:22 PM.

Unlike regular table sugar, which is sucrose (dissacharide), HFCS is concentrated fructose (monosaccharide) PLUS table sugar in generous amount that has inflintrated over 70-80% of food & beverages all over the world. Industrial products such as baked cakes & biscuits, chips, breakfast cerals, fast foods, frosted flakes, sodas, dairy products etc While regular table sugar (of which in itself is considered bad for health) raises your blood sugar level exponentially, HFCS directly leads to fat accumilation in liver. Fatty Liver Disease which can be divided into Alcholic/Non Alcholic Fatty Liver Disease This leads to scarring of liver tissue. Disrupts glucagon & insulin production. Results in Type 2 Diabetis also known as Diabetis Mellitus, secretion of excess glucose in urine Studies show that kids consuming high dosage of HFSC at age of 10 would ultimately suffer liver cirhosis by 30 years old. Liver trabsplation may be required. Then there's direct link to obesity due to diabetis mellitus With obesity, high BP. With high BP, increased risk of heart disease. Increased risk of stroke. Which ultimately results in morbidity Not accounting trans fat yet, mind you |

Sweet tea is obviously healthier than soda despite its sugar content. Soda has way more sugar than sweet tea and unlike soda (which is full of chemicals), sweet tea is natural. |

Ok cool, but just because something can cause all of that doesn't mean it's the "number one killer". UV rays can cause cancer, but that doesn't mean that the sun is a number one killer. Also you're going to need to post some sources if you expect anyone to believe that HFCS has "inflintrated" (lol) 70-80% of the worldwide food supply Also @graffiti tea has plenty of chemicals. Water is a chemical. Everything has chemicals in it. You need to distinguish between harmful chemicals and not-so-harmful chemicals; too much tea can kill you, either through water intoxication, caffeine overdose, etc, but in moderate amounts it won't do the average person any harm Edited by peep, Apr 9 2016, 08:13 PM.
