I'm mostly talking about DIY accidents but it can apply to many things as well. For some reason people who aren't exactly stupid sometimes do the stupidest things. Of course complete idiots do it as well but I'm wandering how come people with otherwise normal brains tend to cause themselves or others accidents due to a moment of stupidity?

s*** happens. Humans are unpredictable. No one knows what they'll do at certain and specific moments. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

People are absent minded sometimes. Just the other day I was frying some sausages before I wondered wtf I was doing since I usually bake them. |
