Crazy Awesome Legend

We've had a second Secret Wars, multiple Hulks, a gazillion versions of Spider-Man and we're getting a second Civil War. Has Marvel run out of original ideas?

Probably.
Who cares about multiple Hulks though? There's Banner, Fixit, Ross, Betty, Jennifer, Lyra, and Skaar. They ain't much, they're not the same character anyway. As for Spidey, most are from alternate universes, so it's acceptable.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

I don't think they have. Considering they have yet to bring in particular characters into the world. But I mean either way, does it really matter? They're still making money and they'll keep making money until people get bored and tired of seeing the same thing. i don't think the world can get enough of the Avengers or any other Marvel movie. They've nearly monopolized the industry in that genre. It's an uphill battle for anyone else.

Nevermind, this is about the comics not the movies. I just noticed the category this topic was in. My bad.

My Dear Melancholy,

Everyone Superhero has multiple versions because they're alternate universes Pelador. And it wouldn't be the first time a comic company reused ideas.

You know I was just having this discussion with someone today. We were talking about Batwoman and I was wondering who she was. She then claimed I was thinking about Batgirl and I was confused. Though we started to talk about how many Superheros have multiple versions. There are dozens of versions of Superman and many universes as well. I was surprised she manage to keep up with most of it. That is the reason I find it hard to get into comics in the first place.

That's becaue DC likes to make it confusing. Marvel doesn't do that, most of the time.

My Dear Melancholy,

DC likes to make every universe important and try to connect them.

Marvel rarely does that

They don't succeed at connecting them well. Or at making them interesting, most of them fall flat and end up being really boring.
The Pre-Crisis and Post-Crisis universes being connected makes the least sense to me. The Post-Crisis universe caused the other's destruction, if I'm not mistaken.

My Dear Melancholy,

That is correct. Then the Pre Crisis universe got reborn stuff. Let's not forget the whole Jason Todd situation where an elseworld as story affected every universe because someone punched reality. Like what casual comic book fan would understand that.

At least it's not Image Comics level of confusing plots. Those guys' stories are trippy as balls.
