Ethan Bennett used to be Bruce Wayne's best friend. Bruce has known Ethan since high school, and he has many times worked with Batman to stop criminals and to bring them to justice. Bruce even considered telling Ethan that he was Batman, but this never happened due to Ethan turning into Clayface thanks to The Joker. Bruce has many times tried to make a cure for Ethan, but because of Ethan's exposure to Joker's chemicals this has made him crazy, and later on Ethan decided to become a villain and start his criminal career with a much simpler and easier life.

Huh, he seems very similar to two-face to an extent, at just at the beginning.

You see, Batman media during the early 2000s had this thing called the Bat Embargo, where anything that wasn't related to the Nolan movies couldn't be any where else, the exceptions being Bane and Joker, who were in the 2008/2012 movies and were recurring villains in The Batman. The Batman however couldn't use Two Face, Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow or Mad Hatter (who never appeared in the Nolan movies for some reason).

So, Greg Weisman, the fantastic writer and producer of awesome shows like Gargoyles and Spectacular Spider-Man joined the team of The Batman and decided to create a new character (Ethan/Clayface), partially inspired by Two-Face. And this version of the character ended up being the best. At least in my opinion.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

滅Are you frightened?

Kinda funny that Clayface was the last boss battle on Arkham City.

That was Basil Karlo though, the original Clayface, not Ethan.

Fun fact man could've known that if I read the files in the game.

The thing is, there's like 7 or 8 Clayfaces in the whole DC Universe, excluding Ethan.
You can get confused so easily with these guys.
