Cameras! So many choices...

I've made threads talking about this in the past, but my tax return is finally here and I've decided to use it to buy my first camera! This will be a camera that I use to record videos, so the video quality will need to be decent. I want to keep it under $300, maybe less if I can get away with that. Does anyone have a camera or a type of camera that they swear by?

I'd hate to get something too expensive in case this hobby doesn't end up being as fun as it seems. Would something like this do the trick, at least in the beginning?

I tried to make digital hd videos before so i can keep a personal video library of my family, I bought the Canon (forgot the model but it was around $190), the quality was crap, once i transferred the file to my pc i could see lot of blurs.

The best advice i got was buy the camera best suited to your style of how you make videos, since i'm only a beginner i just now use my iphone 6 which records better quality video than my previous canon cam recorder.

Before you buy anything ask the store owner for a test run to show the quality of the video recorder or make videos from your smart phone.

Best of luck.
