1990's animes

Are the 1990's animes such as Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, Trigun and YuYu Hakusho worth watching? I find them so hard watch due to how old the graphics are. Kind of hypocritical of me as I've watched the DB/Z/GT series from the late 80's/late 90's, and the earlier seasons of One Piece up until the Impel Down arc.

If so, which one do you recommend? I personally think i should for ones that are remastered.

Yeah, old animation/artistry can be an eye-sore. But if you are forgiving enuf to such trivial issues, then it shouldnt be a prob

YYH is a solid show. I was pleasantly suprised at the directions the series took & deapite its cliched moments & horrible finale, it was a worthy show

Likewise, I consider Pokemon (yeah, you heard it right!) in 90's to have its special charm. Watchin Ash, Misty & Brock embarking in their mysterious journey to catch/train as many new pokemons as possible was "fresh". There used to be filler segment with Crytal Onyx. Or Garadoz helping fend off Team Rocket away. It was such a good time~

I'd suggest Inuyasha & HXH as well. Both were significantly darker compared to their Final Act & 2011 versions

Yeah, true. I forgot to mention that I've watched the original Pokemon series as well.

Technically this starts in the late 80s but I would also recommend Legend of Galactic Heroes, it's quite great, one of the best anime I've ever seen in my life. It's more of a space opera with themes about democracy and dictatorships that are done incredibly well without being in your face about what's right and what's wrong. The characters are honestly dine if the best I've seen. It's got a little bit if a rocky start but by the third season it's honestly what if I'd consider prefect.
Can you tell I like LoGH? :p I'm seriously a little worried I'm over hyping it but I do honestly believe that.

The anime isn't quite available legally over here (never got ported over here so it's all fan subs), but the ovas and episodes are really easy to find.

Only thing I think might turn you off is that is more of a drama than an action piece, and it's also really long as well, as a slightly rocky start to the series.

Crazy Awesome Legend

Cowboy Bebop is one of those you need to see before you die. It's one of the greatest anime of all time and still holds up. Beserk was okay. I felt like they could have followed the manga more closely and it would have made it better. Yu Yu Hakisho was fantastic in my opinion. It might be a bit slow to start off with but once the tournament starts then it gets pretty bad a***.

Another I don't know if you've seen is the original Sailor Moon. I think we're all aware of how the DIC dub completely bastardised it. They basically stripped it of anything worth while through heavy censorship and editing. But if you watch the Japanese dub then you might find that it is actually a pretty dark and mature show, despite the magical girl elements.

Cowboy Bebop
Yeah, I don't like it as much as a lot of other people though but it's definitely worth the watch. Also I'd recommend the dub over the sub too.

Berserk

Yeah but personally I'd say read the manga instead. The Anime only really covers one arc and so do the movies. There's another Anime coming out this year but that might only be adapting one arc too, which is a shame because the later arcs introduce all the important side characters who make the series even better.

Eh, I guess. I think I only like it mostly for nostalgia, honestly not sure how well it holds up otherwise.

Visually Cowboy Bebop still looks fantastic even today, so there shouldn't be an issue there.

@Jet Yeah man, gave it a peep a few days ago. It is definitely on my watchlist as I've heard a lot about it from various people. I remember watch a bit of the movie years ago as a kid. Thanks for the feedback though!

I agree with what everyone else is saying. Some of these animes, to me at least, are never going to age.

Here are the ones I love to death:
-Cowboy Bebop (everyone MUST watch!)
-Berserk (amazing)
-Trigun (amazing)
-Dragon Ball Z (obviously)

These ones, in my opinion, are really good as well:
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Inuyasha
-Yu Yu Hakusho
-Pokemon

Everywhere I look, the top 3 seem to be Cowboy Bebop, Berserk, and Trigun. (I agree 100%)

Cowboy Bebop could kick the s*** out of the some of the new decade animes, not just in animation but in story, voice acting and music as well. It's an amazing series that's more than worth its watch.

As for Trigun, it's often considered almost a brotherly comparison to Cowboy Bebop. To be honest, while its a fun series, it's more a cult classic than C.B. which was universally praised. The animation a bit lack at times and you can definitely see its age as well. In such a case here, while I would suggest watching the anime, I'd more so suggest reading the mangas "Trigun and Trigun Maximum" which imo, are vastly superior.
