SXSW is coming (The South by Southwest Festival) and on March 18th, Telltale will be in Austin to discuss the very first details from their upcoming series based on the Batman mythology. The free panel is open to all attendees (even those who don’t have a badge) and will be hosted by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller. Miller will interview the Telltale team and “dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”

The best news is that the countless Batman fans who can’t make the convention can stream the whole panel live using Twitch by clicking the following link on March 18th! twitch.tv/sxswgaming

At the moment, the only news to come out about the next Telltale series is what we can gather from the announcement trailer and what CEO Kevin Bruner said in a recent interview with Kotaku:

Our Batman series is looking fantastic. I think it might become one of the best things we’ve ever done. I can’t go into much detail, but the Batman team is amazing and they are really on top of it. It’s not like any other Batman game out there. This game really explores all aspects of Batman, not just the the “fighting in the suit” side of him. There’s a lot of subplots to explore and some really amazing choices that have a big impact on the story being told. I really think it might be the peak of the mountain for us so far.

It's going to be good because it's Telltale. Not because it's Batman.
Just saying.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

My Dear Melancholy,

Umm...OK? Don't see how's that...relevant. You can do that with any game lol.

Going be good because it's 2K not NBA
Going be good because it's Ubisoft not Assassin Creed
It's Nintendo not Pokémon

I say that because It's pretty obvious the game is going to do well in sales just because it's a BATMAN game.

No you didn't say that. You said it was gonna be good because it's Telltale, you even said not because it's batman. Then you say in your second post that it's because it's batman? You are confused, sir.

I'm kinda sick of Telltale games now, I'm sad to say. I liked them when they were making games like Tales of Monkey Island, Sam & Max and Back to the Future. I feel like they've sold out majorly with the success of the Walking Dead series. The only one post-Walking Dead I've liked is The Wolf Among Us.

Look at the titles they are making. Minecraft, Batman, Game of Thrones. I feel like they are making games mainly for money now, while before it was passion for making video games.

be fair, I played Tales from the Borderlands and I thought that was a great game, really enjoyed it.
Also I think Darker is saying that it'll sell because Batman, but be good because Telltale.

? I still don't get it though, how is that really "selling out"? As said earlier TFTBL is a great game (and IMO, they're best one to date) and that came out last year

I hope it's good. So far, it's sounding like it at least wants to surpass Arkhams.

My Dear Melancholy,

New news; http://batman-news.com/2016/03/19/batman-telltale-first-details-r-rated-mature/
Quote:

Telltale says their game will be rated M for Mature, and will feel like an R-rated movie. Here’s what fans can expect when the game is released this summer (no specific release date has been announced yet):

Batman is the perfect character for the studio to explore in a Telltale series, giving the team the opportunity to dive deeper into the mind of the man behind the mask. Each night, Bruce Wayne chooses to change Gotham for the better. The team wants to explore what the consequences are of the player’s actions when decisions made as Bruce have a critical impact on his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa. Certain key situations will give the player the decision to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman, with consequences for both sides.
Fresh interpretation of the universe set in current times, not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics. Story will focus on Bruce and Batman, not an examination of the extended ‘Bat-family,’ (Robin, Nightwing, etc.) Fans can expect certain series staples such as Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya. Telltale is looking to keep the villains more tightly under wraps until closer to the premiere.
Certain characters will have a deeply personal relationship with Bruce in his private life, and decisions made as Bruce or Batman will affect their paths towards corruption or redemption.
The player’s actions will help shape the Gotham that Bruce deals with during the day, as well as the criminals that Batman faces at night.
Team is committing to a non-photorealistic interpretation of the universe, enhancing engine and technology to deliver a more seamless living comic book art direction. Taking inspiration from the works of over 75 years of artists such as Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, and Neal Adams.
Like some other Telltale series, the game will be landing at M (Mature 17+) rating, and the cinematic approach will feel more akin to an R-rated film.
