Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

This just seems...wrong...

You can't make J. Jonah Jameson become Commissioner Gordon! The universe will surely collapse.

I wonder who Disney will get for being J.J in Spiderman movies then? JK Simmons would be f***ing perfect I don't think anyone would care if he played the same dude in two different universes but not that DC has grabbed him it's doubtful they will.

I'm honestly not sure I'll be able to take him seriously as Gordon, if there's ever a scene with him shouting it'll be so much like his J.J portrayal >_<

"Get me pictures of that crook Batman!"

For once we agree a little bit, Simmons doesn't really fit as Gordon but that doesn't mean he can't do a good job. He's an excellent actor.
And I mean, really? You're judging him based due to his performance on Jameson just because he was pretty silly? That doesn't mean he can't play a serious character like Gordon.

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

That's awesome, Simmons rocks. I wonder if he'll be as straight as Oldman's Gordon, Simmon's could play the part a lot more tongue in cheek I think. Cool news, looking forward to seeing what he does with it.

It makes no difference that he's played JJ Jameson. Have you not seen his serious roles? For instance his role in Whiplash is incredible, he's downright frightening. This man is so versatile he could pull off playing about every role he's given. He'll make a great Gordon.

I'm not saying he'll be bad at it he's a great actor but it'll be hard to not just imagine him as J.J, like how a lot of people found it hard to take Bryan Cranston seriously as Walter White when they know him as Hal from Malcolm In The Middle.

Hopefully they don't give him a somewhat goofy role, I really hope the DC universe isn't going to adopt that kind of humour from the MCU...the goofy part in one of the trailers for BvS is somewhat worrying on that front.

Dude. Even the most noob guy at Batman stuff knows Commissioner Gordon is anything BUT a silly character. If you expect him to be silly... Then what kind of Batman stuff have you watched? The 60s show?

Actually nevermind, you probably didn't watch the 60s show because Gordon wasn't in there I think :p

I've honestly never heard that. Personally, I always make a point of saying Bryan Cranston is so good an actor that at no point did I see him as Hal, or think "it's weird seeing him not be funny", and friends I've talked to about Breaking Bad who watched Malcolm In The Middle have said the same thing. I feel like people who say they did have trouble just weren't paying enough attention, or went into it thinking "oh s*** it's Breaking Hal". Good actors make you forget previous roles they've played because their performance absorbs the audience so much.

Looking at JK Simmons' filmography, JJ Jameson is the only role that is remotely comedic. Granted I haven't seen all of his movies, but he's much more of a dramatic actor anyway so this role suits him nicely. So unless you've only seen him in Spider-Man there's no reason to worried.

J.K.Simmons can probably pull it off, especially if he has a more antagonistic relationship with Batman.

Mitas has out right, I looked at Whiplash, then looked at Kai, and Spider-Man is burned into my brain anyways. If it weren't for someone pointing out JK Simmons acted those three I would have never even thought about it. Heck even then I thought "this is nothing like the other two roles."

There's also Tenzin and Stanford from Legend of Korra and Gravity Falls as proof that Simmons can handle dramatic roles just fine, without the need of going over-the-top or be an antagonistic character.

There's also JK Simmons as a neo-nazi rapist in HBO's Oz in which he was amazing.

I haven't really seen him in much...even though he's in a s***load of movies good God. About the only thing I know I've watched him in is Juno(not that I remember the film well some 4 years since the last watch)

So he's just going to be J.J in my mind unless he's perfect as Jim, Gary Oldman was pretty awesome.

Also I know Jim isn't a comedic character but I can see them inserting some awkward comedy there, gotta keep it funny for kids watching...(I so hope not)
Also can't imagine him having many big scenes considering he's cast for Justice League, with all the characters that will be in that I doubt he'll appear all that much unless he's taken hostage or something.
