This is the old Muten Roshi we all know and love versus a young Piccolo.

Piccolo relied too heavily on throwing his power around, while Roshi rarely underestimates his opponent. Piccolo wears himself out then Roshi goes in for the kill.

Piccolo stomps. Roshi matched skill with a kid who had no martial arts training in the 21st.

He also matched skill with a thoroughly trained warrior like Tenshinhan. I think Goku's unpredictable approach to the fight with Roshi took him by surprise.

When exactly is Roshi here? DBZ? I feel like his skill would have depleted by then due to lack of training after the 22nd. You're right that his skill did improve in DB, but I'd imagine it would go back down.

At his height during DB. Roshi never had a fight in DBZ, why would it be then?

You should know better Ki Adi.

Which arc is this Roshi from? I could see him taking on old Piccolo during the end of Z. I don't think he could beat him, though. Piccolo's chi attacks might be too powerful for him.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

You just said "old Roshi", so I was thinking at his oldest age :p

At his height... I'm not sure. I think your analysis may be correct.

That kid has shown the ability to learn stuff on the fly. And he did have training.

😕

Goku trained under Grandpa Gohan most of his life in martial arts. Goku is far from unskilled.

Master Roshi seems much more skilled than Piccolo. Piccolo is strong but he doesn't seem to be a true martial arts master. Piccolo would definitely underestimate Roshi and probably not even use his full power right away. Roshi hardly ever underestimating his opponent and who knew Piccolo would give 100% effort right away. Roshi would win imo.
