If the southern states tried to succeed from the union again, what would happen?

I'm all up for the Southern States succeeding again, it's unfortunate that they're still playing catch up even to this day. But what can you expect when they relied on agriculture for so long as their means of income. When the Union came barreling down and burning down all of the fields and destroying entire businesses it ruined them. If they could succeed again we would be a stronger union all around financially.

I doubt it'd get very far, America these days tends to be a bit more solid and nationalistic as opposed to having regional loyalties. Everyone is an American, rather than a Georgian or South Carolinian. A civil war would likely be shorter since more people would vote to return to the union or otherwise not support attempts to secede.

I seem to recall a southern state bringing up the option of seceding fairly recently, around when Obama was bringing up Obamacare.

If there was a real civil war it wouldn't be between the northern or southern states, it'd be between the people who support the government and the people who are against it.

I'm pretty sure the democrats would go back to owning slaves though.

Well I don't know, if the south wants to succeed, maybe they should drop the Confederate w***ery :p

Title misspelling aside, what would they even be seceding under?

I wouldn't mind. It'd give America something to focus on besides the rest of the world.
